“This we know…..the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected, like blood that connects one family. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth. Man did not weave the web of life-he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”

——–Chief Seattle, circa 1854

Robert Thibodeau’s Astrological Insights for November 2009/Mayflower Notes

1. Full Moon November 2nd on Daniel Boone and Marie Antoinette’s birthday. Some people are losing their head in politics, others are wilderness warriors. Venus trines Neptune on the Full Moon while Neptune retrograde is about to go direct on the 4th. The NY Stock Exchange may have a crazy fantasy moment, strong shift, up or down, but with Neptune, don’t trust this as long-term. Strong ideals and strategies for the future clash with practical everyday realities. Good time to stay practical, communicate clearly, don’t take things personally, and don’t overextend yourself with energy or money expecting immediate returns. Good for investing in the long run and being rather practical. Venus/Neptune good for higher love, the arts, poetics, soul-mating, and loving one’s way into the future. Not good for impatient, need-it-now types. Neptune going forward first week of November jolts many into practical needs and reality. Air signs may just dream or flow through this time in good spirits. Fixed signs scramble to stay on top of changing conditions, and/or suddenly through fog or self-deceptions in need of new game plan. Escapism not good at this time. Cardinal signs feeling the pressure to put up or shut up, as well as need to manifest product, destiny, or secure structure.

“Thus we never see the true State of our Condition, till it is illustrated to us by its Contraries; nor know how to value what we enjoy, but by the want of it.” – Defoe , Robinson Crusoe, pg. 102.

2. November 10-12, on to November 15th when the first of three Saturn square Pluto take place along with a Sun square Neptune that day. Sun square Jupiter, Mercury trine Uranus and square Neptune, Moon triggers Saturn/Pluto on the12th. The wild dance of doing a thousand things at once, working too hard and trying to play too? Musical chairs? Or just last minute adjustments to ever-changing conditons? One thing is for sure, Saturn/Pluto tends to put a hard reality crunch on things. It’s kind of like, time is up and many things need to be done NOW, so what to eliminate, fire, rid of, drop, cancel, X out, stop. If you can, be sure to get enough sleep and renewing rest during this time. Saturn aspects make for tooth troubles, debt troubles, need for control or disipline. Be careful around repeat offenders, negative always people, and people you cannot help no matter what you do. Saturn/Pluto often indicates having to deal with external situations outside oneself or beyond one’s control. One may feel one’s partner cold at this time, or that intimacy and warmth are lacking. Patience and compassion is key at this time for dealing with keeping on track with long-term goals while that which is closest seems to be cracking, crackling, and carjacking your dreams. Historically, Saturn/Pluto puts lots of pressure on Middle East and geo-political hotspots to find long-term solutions for peace, or face long-term disillusionment and environmental disintegration. The melting and diminishing of both the Himalayan glaciers and the ice in Antartica is affecting hundreds of millions of people. The Ganges River is threatened to dry up! All great mountains are suffering this drying up. Healthy air, water, food may soon replace all wars for land and other mineral rights. We just spent 79 million dollars to crash spacecraft on the moon looking for water with no results so far. Can we learn to spend time and money on loving the earth for heaven’s sake? Scientists claim to be racing to increase food production by 50% over next 20 years to feed an ever-growing population. The number of hungry recently rose to 1.02 billion this year; that’s 1 in 7. With nitrogen fertilizers contributing heavily to greenhouse gases, isn’t it time to start gardens in Detroit’s 40 square miles of vacant acres out of 139 sq. miles?

On the other hand new discoveries and scientific breakthroughs in space and under sea and mountain are just around the corner. One interesting development is the claim of a mayan city just discovered that is bigger than L.A. and holding the largest pyramid in the world so far! Gosh, just in time for 2012 end of the calendar. They also discovered artifacts proving popul vuh and  predating spaniards by a millenia….!

“The laboratory table must become an altar.” -Rudolf Steiner

Saturn in Libra is the questioning of partnership and the need for positive long-term solutions in the business of love and money, politics and financial institutions, personal and social structures of health and well-being. Possibly lots of new rules limiting the wilder side of stock/credit card speculation, i.e. hedgefunding. With banks recently returning to paying record bonuses again, anything could happen. Saturn/Pluto wants to end hot wars and just have cold war. Did Nixon’s War on Drugs end? Watch out for strange extremes in the weather, possibly early winter storm warnings come November 12th, 15th, 19th, and the 27th (these are also serious days for work and decision-making, grounding and re-grouping or contracting, dealing with the problem side of life).

Saturn/Pluto square demands strong action, also strong reaction if rights are violated. Saturn squared Pluto in 1777 when America was struggling for freedom and new direction. With Uranus thrown into the configuration, these aspects rival aspects taking place during the great depression after 1929. Saturn/Pluto indicates permanent junctures and turning points in both history and biography (if such aspects hit directly upon your natal chart). Simplicity is in, longevity is strength, and patient perseverance and persistence wins with such aspects. Discipline or control is a choiceless choice here. Reigning in ‘too big to fall’ institutions and government takeovers are common day occurences of late. When top musicians are legally demanding records from the post President Bush administration, on which of their music was used “to torture Guantanamo Bay prisoners with extremely loud rap music,” times are weird, rough, and tough with rule-breaking and international plagues on morality. Saturn/Pluto tends to make tough laws and rules, and sticks to it.

“God is absence. God is the solitude of man.” -Sartre

Saturn square Pluto can be gridlock and frozen up impulses. Stay tuned for coming Saturn square Uranus 2012 and the coming Uranus square Pluto for major breakthroughs and new world one planet working for sanity and peace or major end time scenerios. Cow-a-bunga little veggie burger! Cardinal Signs and planets or Ascending Sign in cardinal signs beware, awaken, be creative and grow!?! Saturn will square Pluto two more times – January 31st and August 21st 2010. Ok, so Saturn/Pluto square was there at outbreak of WWI and II. Saturn in Libra portends of conversing and avoiding unnecessary struggle by peaceful negotions. Pluto in Capricorn says that if that doesn’t work, we will secretly or overtly just ‘control’ the situation. Ben Franklin, an astute astrologer, said, “Forewarned is forearmed.” Astrology can be good astral weather predictions. We are the sportsmen and women taking the field. Out of our own higher selves, out of love and truth, each of us can make a difference right where we are. This is what mind training or spiritual learning is all about. This is what positive thinking begins, heart felt thoughts.. Saturn/Pluto’s 33 to 35 year cycle portends and indicates that such aspect brings about an energy necessitating ‘the need to grow up’. The need to wake up and smell the coffee, the reality of the situation. Will we get a grip on the recession, or will matters worsen?

“The human being is this night, this empty nothingness, which in its simplicity contains everything…this is the night, the inner part of nature, that here exists – pure self…it is the night of the world that approaches.”

-Hegel, from Jenenser Realphilosophie.

It might be time to backyard garden for real. More than one third of species assessed by global diversity are threatened with extinction. Don’t worry, local newspapers report that if honey bees die, we will still have lots of food, though a third or half will disappear. Hey, there’s still beer and dirt isn’t there?! Gosh, the writings always on the wall.

“The only way to combat the influence of these Ahrimanic Beings is to realise that against certain aims of Ahriman nothing avails except to see through him, to know that he is there. I have indicated this repeatedly in the Mystery Plays; think only of the end of the last Play. The Fifth Post-Atlantean epoch must evolve to the stage where many human beings address the Ahrimanic Powers and Beings as Faust addresses Mephistopheles: “In thy Nothingness I hope to find the All.” -RS; Rudolf Steiner, Behind the Scenes in External Happenings – The Fall of the Spirits of Darkness

3. November 19th (18th to 20th influence) -Venus Square Mars. Love works miracles, but it can also mess up the rest of your life. Love implies freedom, freedom without love is dangerous. Venus/Mars aspects heighten sexual awareness, it can be dog and cat fights, or intense kisses, slaps of reality, or sudden insights into relationships. Passion without compassion oft is blind; never much forsight, and hindsight is not always kind. Knowing when to say no is the preriquisite for truly saying yes.

“In my recent lecture on mysticism, I spoke of the particular form of mystic absorption that appeared in the Middle Ages between the time of Meister Eckhart and that of Angelus Silesius. This type of mysticism is distinguished by the fact that the mystic seeks to become free of all the experiences aroused in his soul by the external world. He seeks to acquire the feeling that proves to him that, even when everything of the everyday world is removed from his soul and it withdraws into itself, a world of its own still remains within it. This world always exists but is outshone by the experiences that work so powerfully on man from without. Thus, it generally appears as a light so faint that most men do not even notice it. The mystic usually calls it “the spark”. Yet, he feels sure that it can be fanned to a mighty flame that will illumine the source and foundation of existence leading man along the path of his soul to the knowledge of his origin. This may, indeed, be called “knowledge of God.”

Rudolf Steiner

More on Venus Mars square….

Fixed signs under the Love Spell? Water Signs in the love flow? Fire Signs into dictator sex or love idol thrust gottcha? Whew! Watch out for cardinal sign seriousness and mutable sign fickleness. Spring is where love rises, in fall love falls; sometimes into your lap, sometimes on the floor. Venus in Scorpio squares Mars in Leo on same day the Moon (Sagittarius to Capricorn) aspects Saturn/Pluto. Cool attracts hot, hot attracts cool, magnetic attracts lightening sparks and electrical zaps magnetic. Good days for sporting your most attactive magical wear and strutting your stuff. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, avoid mystical magical encounters and sexual play. Mars/Venus tends to be everything or nothing for many folks.

“Infinity and immediate reality are only a breath away to the heart of the lover or poet, musician or true esotericist. True Art awakens, resurrects, the Spirit of the World in the Soul of Imagination.” -Trebore Tau Bodhi of Mayflower

4. Sun in Sagittarius on November 21st sparks a joyful fun filled end of the month with many a happy social encounter. Positive vibe days for love, fun, joy, sociability, and making new connections in biz and otherwise for November include November 5, 8, 10, 14, 23, 25, 26 and 30th.

Freedom is what you do with what’s been done to you.”

-Jean-Paul Sartre

NEXT TALK BY ROBERT OF MAYFLOWER tentatively scheduled for November 22nd, 12 Noon, Om Cafe in Ferndale: FINDING HAPPINESS IN AN UNHAPPY WORLD. Astrological and Metaphysical Insights into having creative and happy times in these nearly apocalyptic and chaotic times. How to find peace and co-create a better future. How the 12 Signs of the Zodiac will fair the play of time. Donation ($20 suggested).

Artists don’t hold the balance or tension of opposites. Artists transcend and overcome warring opposites in life, recreating new ones in a kind of perpetual motion and rest. It’s not I Ching, its Ma Ching, touching, kissing heaven and earth together for a moment, an eternal moment. It’s listening to the birds, catching the change in the garden song, the light. It’s awakening the heart to listening, conversing, truth. Its becoming in the moment, the moment in eternity, the infinite in this finite revealing the spiritual path. -robert of mayflower

Clear Sky Heart

In autumn leaves red,

there is joy too

in finding stars.

The mind catches fire

in heart’s cool calm

surrendering.

Only pure fools trust

the ground to catch

the fallen times.

Everything is here

in the empty

open clear sky, heart!

All Souls Day, 2009

As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter. –Max Planck, The Nature of Matter, Speech at Florence Italy 1944

We do not join together merely to possess agreeable facts of knowledge. Rather should it be that we unite together in order to carry on a sacred service to truth in the interest of mankind’s evolution. Then, indeed, the right knowledge will come to us. Then these facts will not be restrained by all sorts of prejudices…

In contrast, a knowledge must arise through the science of the spirit, a knowledge that can be embraced in two statements that I should especially like to inscribe into your souls today. The first is: A man can never come to a really good, upright, strong personal inner life without having the warmest interest in other men. All inner life that we seek remains false and seductive if it does not go hand in hand with a kindly interest in the character and qualities of other people. We ought straightway to take it for granted that we find ourselves inwardly as man when we take an interest in the characteristics of others. Entering with love into the individualities of other people, which is at times united with a deep experience of the tragedy of life, is what can bring us to self-knowledge. The self-knowledge we seek through delving into ourselves will never be true. We deepen our own inner nature by meeting other people with full interest. But this statement as it has now been expressed here, implies something that cannot be directly carried into effect because it must interact with the other statement.

The other statement is: We never gain a true knowledge of the outer world if we do not resolve to examine the universally human in ourselves and learn to know it. Therefore, all natural science of modern times will be a purely mechanical science and knowledge, not true but false, inverted, unless it is based on the knowledge of man. In the science that was described by me as “occult science” in the book ‘An Outline of Occult Science’, the knowledge of the outer world was sought for together with the knowledge of the human being. We find the inner through the outer, the outer through the inner.

Mayflower Bookshop Astrology and Spirit Newsletter for October 2009

Robert Thibodeau, Mayflower Bookshop (248) 547-8227

“We are born at a given moment, in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born. Astrology does not lay claim to anything more.”

-Carl Jung

“There is no danger that dauntless courage cannot conquer;
there is no trial that spotless purity cannot pass through;
there is no difficulty that strong intellect cannot surmount.
For those who win onwards there is a reward past all telling
– the power to bless and save humanity;
for those who fail, there are other lives in which success may come.”
-H.P. Blavatsky Col. Wr. XIII, p. 219

“O Human race born to fly upward, wherefore at a little wind dost thou fall.”

-Dante Alighieri

“To seek to achieve political reforms before we have effected a reform in human nature, is like putting new wine into old bottles. Make men feel and recognize in their innermost hearts what is their real, true duty to all men, and every old abuse of power, every iniquitous law in the national policy, based on human, social or political selfishness, will disappear of itself . . . .”
-H.P. Blavatsky

ASTROLOGICAL ASPECTS for October 2009

“A great flame follows a little spark.”

-Dante, The Divine Comedy

“The Wisdom, Love, and Will of the Sun, thus the solar system, is the spark in each heart. It is the captain midnight dharma decoder, the light to every map, the map to every experience, lightening and lighting the way home.”

-Trebore Tau Bodhi, Mayflower Bookshop

  1. Mercury now direct. It takes until October 14th to reclaim Mercury shadow of retrograde starting back on September 17th. By October 14th, the previous month falls into place, makes sense, finds its own natural order. Communications straighten out or are forever lost.

“Dropping the idea of ownership is renunciation. Renunciation is not dropping the possessions but possessiveness. And this is what Gurdjieff calls getting unidentified. This is what Bauls call realizing ‘Ardhar Manush’ — the essential man. This is what Zen people call the original face.”

-Osho

  1. Pluto now direct takes until the end of the year to reclaim, heal, digest, compost and renew intimate powerful connections, both personal and material. Time to stop trying to digest the past. It’s time to let go of the past and now to journey into the future. Pluto in Capricorn wants deep commitment. But if not to one’s own Higher Self, to what? If not enlightened, you’ll be with unenlightened people. To the enlightened, all is enlightening. One can learn to see the Buddha or Christ or divine nature in each and all, but first one must learn to see the divine within.

“Avarice, envy, pride; three fatal sparks, have set the hearts of all on fire.”

-Dante, The Divine Comedy

“The fire of heaven, truth and love, quenches the fire of earthly passion and desire; and kindles the fire of eternal friendship.”

-Trebore Tau Bodhi of Mayflower

By end of the year, politics, the economy, deeper romance and connections, and even the Jay Leno Show, take more positive lasting turns.

Pluto now moves forward and deeper into Capricorn, and as Joyce states in Ulysses, “History…is a nightmare from which I AM trying to awake.” Pluto represents that part of ourselves that is unlived. The part of us that is unconsciously lurking and moving us emotionally and psychologically in both environment, sleep, and in precipitative sexual vigor of yet to be formulated moments. Such unconscious forces strongly affect and effect our immediate psychic and emotional environment, our children, and the future of our community. Dream true in thinking, be awake in heart, will the divine.

“When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate.”

-Carl Jung

Meditation and Compassion are key to resolving plutonian conspiracies of the heart and soul. There are no real conspiracies other than that the HEART has not awoken with intelligence. All other conspiracies are shadows that die at death. Only Love and Hate can make one immortal, so choose Love. When one finds TRUTH, one finds that part that is already enlightened. Love is truth manifested in good work, virtue. Right suffering is purification and learning. Buddha taught right suffering. Suffering that allows one to grow, learn, awaken. Sacrificing an immediate pleasure for something better to come in the future, or to sacrifice and suffer so one can get a right education … that is right suffering. Suffering without learning or growing is wrong suffering.

“Neurosis is always a substitute for legitimate suffering.”

-Carl Jung

Where love rules, war ceases. Where compassion prevails, a garden grows. Where the wisdom of selflessness and full awareness prevail, something new arises out of nothingness, free of preconceptions and karmic conditionings. Selflessness is genius. Selflessness is not no-self. Selflessness is stillness, open arms, open heart holding the whole world.

A little common sense would see that ‘paganism’ and ‘animism’ as a world conception is healthier and more peace-making. Having a God we personally represent to send people to hell and ill imagine a destroyed world doesn’t make sense. That’s why even Jesus chose love. “When you love the least among you, you love Me.” Think for yourself. Pluto is the last planet, or pesky dwarf planet. Pluto encircles the whole solar system. Pluto energy wants to hold everything. Otherwise, Pluto fights over pieces. Pluto is either Plutocrats or pure compassion. You and I can choose wholeness or a piece. Peace is wholeness, there is no perfection, conquering, or being conquered when it comes to love and truth.

“Masses are always breeding grounds of psychic epidemics.”-Carl Jung

The diverse garden or multitudinous uniqueness protects the garden from one bug or disease destroying the whole thing. Unity in diversity means one spirit permeating the many diverse unique. The Unique Principle is key to Macrobiotic Philosophy as revealed by George Ohsawa and later by his student Michio Kushi. This is why the founding fathers chose the philosophical axiom for America, “Unity in Diversity.” There is strength in a bundle of twigs or stars if they are individuals unique.

“If the present world go astray, the cause is in you, in you it is to be sought.”

-Dante, The Divine Comedy

“My life closed twice before its close;

It yet remains to see

If Immortality unveil

A third event to me,

So huge, so hopeless to conceive,

As these that twice befell.

Parting is all we know of heaven,

And all we need of hell.”

-Emily Dickinson

  1. Full Moon (Harvest Moon) Sunday, October 4th at 11 degrees Aries makes Saturday, October 3rd FULL MOON NIGHT. With Sun Libra and Aries Moon Opposed, FULL MOON; raw inharmonious individualistic action (Aries) is conflicting with partner or group dynamic or harmony (Libra). The group may disempower the individual. Again, unity in diversity can work harmony. Love talk needs practical application. Outer possibilities are bigger than inward ability to facilitate. Venus/Mercury/Saturn in Virgo tends to over-criticize without offering good alternative. Jupiter/Neptune within conjunction inconjunct Mars depicts longing to jump into fantasy or escape. Although this is a good aspect for musicians, artists, imagineers of the future, and idealistic romantics who have their feet on the ground. Uranus trines Mars reveals that some risk-takers and bravados of emotional courage may actually know what they are doing with themselves in their emotional, as well as financial, investments or speculations. Mars/Uranus depicts daring and courageous alchemical/transformative experience. Moon in Aries strengthens the Mars boldness and daring for creative change.

The Path that leadeth on is lighted by one fire – the light of daring burning in the heart. The more one dares, the more he shall obtain.”

-HPBlavatsky

Always be ready to speak your mind,

and a base man will avoid you.”

William Blake

Mercury opposed Uranus and Mars trine Uranus in the evening of Full Moon day October 4th … influences us all the way to Venus opposing Uranus October 9th. Creative thinking/speaking attempt to win the day here, but some are just bores of reaction. All things being equal, take the way that frees your mind the most. Avoid repeat offenders and those who boast without actions to back it up.

Bosh! Stephen said rudely. A man of genius makes no mistakes. His errors are volitional and are the portals to discovery.”

-James Joyce, Ulysseus

October 4th to 9th makes for a week of strong, positive, and perhaps sudden, changes of direction when it comes to work and love, health issues and far-a-way dreams. If you are running from or to, you may be trying to avoid yourself. Ideals clash with practical reality, and much change is in the air. Uranus semi-sextile Neptune portends of night-time dreams merging with day-time dreams. An interfacing of the spiritual and material worlds is possible at this time in preparation for the 2010 Cardinal Sign T-Square. All now is preparation for 2010 and then the 2012 Venus Transit across face of the Sun. Apaches called it the ‘Black Tear of the Sun’. Lazlo calls 2012 ‘The Chaos Point,’ and most call it the end of the Mayan Calendar and the beginning of the Great Age of the Goddess. The Winter Solstice near the Galactic Center wherein lies an enormous Black Hole or Jaggad Yoni, Cosmic Womb, blessed be. More at my talk at OM CAFE New Moon October 18th at 11 am.

Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition”

-Tim Leary

Shame is Pride’s cloke.”

-William Blake

  1. October 9th, 13th, and 15th respectively – Venus squares Pluto, conjuncts Saturn, and then squares Pluto. These are what astrologers call “BAD ASPECTS”, so beware. Don’t believe anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad aspect. And O yes, one can change bad aspects into good ones. Go ahead, try! It actually did happen a few times. Personal feelings can get in the way of objectively seeing the situation clearly. Take nothing personally, except your own higher self, your own virtuous possibilities, take a thousand lifetimes to chew on it. Take that seriously to heart so to manifest your destiny. Venus/Pluto makes one over-sensitive, feeling wounded, hurt, vain, and crest fallen. The antidote is to love everyone, not just one. These aspects can be good for deep bonding, but a smothery mothery sense of being confined, limited, or buried could ensue. Good aspects for inner work, getting the big long-term picture, and lots of patience and tender loving care with the little ones. Sometimes the little ones are big guys or giant girls 30 or 45 years old. Think about next lifetime and take a breath. Love anyway, don’t expect much during these aspects and you’ll be fine. Avoid kinky and repeat offenders. Try to see the Christ in everyone, or Moses, or Divine; but also know ‘they know not what they do.’ People who play power games are insecure. When one realizes the divine and creative within, one is rich; one doesn’t steal. When one is true to oneself, one doesn’t lie. Bless and bless, it is its own reward.

“The healthy man does not torture others – generally it is the tortured who turn into torturers.”

-Carl Jung

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.”

-Carl Jung.

Obviously this takes time for the world to see. For the self, it takes one moment to see.

October 9th to 13th can make for hungry ghosts. This making for many a past ghost or future possibility to appear is the magic of Fall. Many a past lover, ghost, or karmic thrill, bill, or love dharma make for colorful but illusive times. It’s generally thought a good idea not to make love to hungry ghosts, vampires, or draconian phantoms of the opera kali yuga. Early America loved the special pre-halloween game ‘spin the bottle’ to find out what direction true love lays. The implication is that it’s not here now.

“Intolerance is evidence of impotence.”

-Aleister Crowley.

Compassion is the sign of a Buddha, or bodhisattva. Truth is the sign of the hero.

-Robert of Mayflower

Venus, the planet of love, being within the 2004-2008 VENUS TRANSIT envelope strengthens the power of love as a force for transformative change and awakening of higher consciousness, destiny, and dharma. Venus brought the gift of grains to Earth and is the conductor of the theosophical ‘Lords of the Flame,’ the spiritual teachers of wisdom and compassion. Everything in this 8 year period not done out of the inspiration of higher love disturbs the astral field of the future, of the higher Buddhic consciousness of love and compassion true. Pluto is the energy that drags higher love, compassion and divine harmony, into the lower worlds of chaos and discord, ignorance and delusion.

October 11th, Moon eclipsing Mars Sunday half moon makes for high physical energy and courage/boldness, but it is a dangerous time if one is prone to anger, jealousy, using force, or arguments; thus, this is a breaking apart type aspect, as well as a forcing oneself or one’s view on another, depriving the other of the very freedom one wants.

“The hours of folly are measur’d by the clock; but of wisdom, no clock can measure.”

-William Blake

  1. Jupiter goes direct October 13th. Here comes the future! Now is the time to make amends and move forward with social plans, family, friends. Good time for making the future begin to move into the present, good for new adventures and projects. Things begun during January through June 2009, or even more recently, finally get ‘lift off’ in the coming month. Will the DOLLAR now rise in world markets? Gold go down for a moment? … or will it take another 3-4 months? Will the economy take a more positive turn for the moment? (i mean, how can we grow when the whole world wails in birth pains, war, greed, and pollution?) How can one expect outer development and growth without inner development and growth?

How often do we see men arising here or there, making this or that proposal for the social and economic life out of a specious wisdom, and always with the mistaken idea that it is still possible to make constructive proposals for the social life without calling in the aid of Spiritual Science. He alone thinks in accordance with the times who knows that every attempted proposal concerning the social configuration of mankind in future is the merest quackery unless it is founded on Spiritual Science. Only he who realises this, in all its implications, is thinking truly in accordance with the times. Those who still pay heed to all manner of professorial wisdom on social economics — arising on the basis of an unspiritual science — are passing through the present time asleep.”

-Rudolf Steiner, from lecture, ‘Evil and the Future of Man

January and February 2010 look for new enterprise, money, projects, adventures, romance to truly take off (Air Signs and Water Signs, especially) and finally a real good car, for real.

-Finnegans Wake, Joyce

  1. Want more freedom? October 4th, night of 8th, 9th 16th, 20th and 27th are your best bets. October 9th high romance and crazy kisses for earth, water signs primarily, mutable signs need slight adjustment to inner thinking to attract the luck and good vibe. Cardinal signs need to continue helping others to help themselves. (All predictions can have day before or after effect.) For real accuracy, get a full reading for yourself. Yea!

You’re only as young as the last time you changed your mind.”

-Tim Leary

Want commitment and bonding? October 13th through 16th, and October 23rd are the best days for making lasting experiences, but these daze may also bring some heavy reality checks when it comes to spending, money issues, romance and sexual involvement. Don’t be a stick-in-the-mud, be a lightening rod for new initiative and a foundation stone for future endeavor; then see who comes. ‘Where there is a lake, the swans will come’ is the old Tibetan wisdom.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

-Mark Twain

“Find something to live for, to love for, and fear disappears in the wind.”

-Trebore Tau Bodhi of Mayflower

Our Spirit is the highest love and truth and that never dies, but how many are conscious of that?!? Actually, our body doesn’t die either, it loses consciousness and is re-circulated, composted and recycled. The biggest shock at death is that our mind doesn’t change much, it just goes on. If you want your mind to change the way it’s going, change it here on Earth. All karma is made and paid off here on Earth. After death, you can re-member and promise to do better, but you will have to reincarnate to prove it. Earth is the proving ground.

“As a well spent day brings happy sleep, so life well used brings happy death.”

-Leonardo DaVinci

  1. October 20th Mercury trine Jupiter gives much intellectual happiness and insight.

Good time to journal, plot out your divine future, make plans eternal, write or call every good friend, hug and kiss with mindfulness. Hey, when are those politicians for healthcare going to give out yoga passes and coupons for health food stores, healing massage, vegetarian restaurants like OM CAFE, or gift cards for Mayflower Bookshop? They are working on medicine drugs and docs and hospitals and prisons without meditation and yoga and right diet and exercise? Give money to the healthy to teach the not healthy methinks. But who am i? Nobody and everybody …

“We are dealing with the best-educated generation in history. But they’ve got a brain dressed up with nowhere to go.

-Tim Leary

  1. October 27th Moon conjunct Jupiter/Neptune into October 28th Venus trine Jupiter makes for much future optimism when it comes to love, romance, and security/money/finance issues. Manifest your dream into the every day, don’t just escape the everyday.

The bird a nest, the spider a web, man friendship.”

-Blake

  1. October 29th Saturn enters Libra along with Sun square Mars into October 30th’s Moon conjunct Uranus oppose Saturn and square Moon. Some heavy quick karma may go down on these days leading up to the so called ‘devils night’ or ‘angels night’. In early America it’s ‘Spin the Bottle’ time, played to find out what direction your true love (or destiny) may be. Halloween will be crazy wild this year with such strong aspects. Lots of wild outfits. Halloween is a weird psychic festival of after death states where whatever you are inside comes out and reveals its grotesque or divine nature in big bold letters. No face jobs here. After death, one’s soul fully reveals itself. That is the symbolism of night time out on the streets disembodied looking for a porch of entry into a body, a home. The porch light on is the love light on. The man and woman ‘come to the door’ to decide to let the wandering forlorn soul in or not; to have a baby or not. That’s the big stomach pumpkin billy with a candle or light on inside, soul inside. The reincarnating soul out in the night looks for entry. That is why the graveyard and death thing is connected. The individual dies, goes through the graveyard, wanders out on the astral plane with or without the road maps or esoteric knowledge, then looks to reincarnate. On November 1st, ‘All Saints Day’ or ‘All Souls Day’ has Mercury square Mars depicting troubles from eating too much sugar associated with slavery and being stuck in the past. Mercury/Mars is good debate at best, plain out disgusting discursive argument at worse. All Souls Day was to philosophically reveal that, at the end, everyone makes it. All Souls reach enlightenment. This process may take awhile at the looks of it. Osho books say it takes one second if you know how to stop your mind and look again from your heart. Zen anyone?

“Among all peoples of the earth, bards have a share of honor and reverence because the Muse has taught them songs and loves the folk soul of bards.”

-Homer, the Odyssey

By the way, have you heard my new CD ‘WISH’ ???  Another new CD called ‘WONDER’ is on the way.

  1. Full Moon November 2nd, Moonday has Moon triggering the Mercury/Mars with Venus trine Neptune in evening for romantic or imaginary escapes and dreams. Good time to let your inner nature reach to the farthest boundaries of imagination. Look for the most boring thing in your room, on your body, in the person next to you … and write about it. Read it the next day. Ponder the immeasurables in the smallest thing.

In the information age, you don’t teach philosophy as they did after feudalism. You perform it. If Aristotle were alive today he’d have a talk show.

-Tim Leary (Yes, he too shopped at Mayflower)

This Full Moon in Taurus, Sun in Scorpio also is Daniel Boone’s birthday, also Marie Antoinette’s; so be careful of losing your head or wrestling with bears and wild animals. Mercury goes direct on November 4th making it safe to make new plans and do the accounting about how much of your life is about divine undertakings, and how much of your life is the undertaker taking your divine. The Full Moon makes for many a turnaround in its waxing waning mode. Future indications, funny psychic feelings, and throwing oneself into tomorrow may work, but i suggest a slow sensuous candlelight evening may be better. By the way, for most of us, the future really starts in 2010 when Uranus goes into Aries and opposes Saturn while squaring Pluto. This grand crossing should prove quite invigorating for progress in both spiritual and material unfoldment and growth. Marijuana then may become legal gaining much tax money for USA as well as taking a bite out of Mexican drug lords and crime. Regulation of drugs could not only end much violence around its prohibition, but it would also help get much criminal element off the streets. Last time Uranus was in Pisces transitioning to Aries, Alcohol prohibition ended and it became legal and taxable.

“Gurdjieff used to say that if you start getting disidentified from things, sooner or later you will fall upon your essential being. That is the basic meaning of renunciation. Renunciation does not mean, sannyas does not mean, renouncing the world and escaping to the Himalayas or to a monastery — because if you escape from the world and go to a monastery, nothing is going to change. You carry the same mind. here in the world, the house was yours, and the wife was yours; there the monastery will be yours, the religion will be yours. It will not make much difference. The ‘mind’ will persist. It is a mind-attitude — it has nothing to do with any outside space. It is an inner illusion, an inner dream, an inner sleep.”

A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.”

“O lady, you in whom my hope gains strength, you who, for my salvation, have allowed your footsteps to be left in Hell, in all the things that I have seen, I recognize the grace and benefit that I, depending upon your power and goodness, have received. You drew me out from slavery to freedom by all those paths, by all those means that were within your power. Do, in me, preserve your generosity, so that my soul, which you have healed, when it is set loose from my body, be a soul that you will welcome.”

-Dante, thanking Beatrice for saving him.  Canto XXXI, Paradiso

“O grace abounding, through which I presumed to set my eyes on the Eternal Light so long that I spent all my sight on it! In its profundity I saw-ingathered and bound by love into one single volume what, in the universe, seems separate, scattered: substances, accidents, and dispositions as if conjoined-in such a way that what I tell is only rudimentary.”

-Dante, on his vision of God.  Canto XXXIII, Paradiso

“But then my mind was struck by light that flashed and, with this light, received what it had asked. Here force failed my high fantasy; but my desire and will were moved already-like a wheel revolving uniformly-by the Love that moves the sun and the other stars.”

-Dante’s conclusion of The Divine Comedy .  Canto XXXIII, Paradiso

— Force, hatred, history, all that. That’s not life for men and women, insult and hatred. And everybody knows that it’s the opposite of that that is really life.

— What? Says Alf.

— Love, says Bloom. I mean the opposite of hatred.”

-Joyce, Ulysseus

James Joyce, Finnegans Wake, 292.25-31

One great part of every human existence is passed in a state which cannot be rendered sensible by the use of wideawake language, cutanddry grammar and goahead plot.”

-About Finnegans Wake; Letter to Harriet Shaw Weaver, 24 November 1926

“Never underestimate the loving warmth of the heart. The spark of sun in the heart is what makes all things grow. This light of Spirit within each of our Soul’s is a gift of God. This fire is the Philosopher’s Fire, the fire tried stone of the heart, the workings of the Holy Spirit of the World. From this fire, all things are born, transformed, and born anew. Metamorphosis, the alchemy of creative transformation and rebirth, renewal, is not accomplished by the intellect alone; but by this fire of higher love, higher self, and creative play. Where there is love, there is no warring will to overpower and rule, no sense of conquering or being conquered. Love frees, awakens, and empowers each uniqueness; otherwise, love leaves alone. Love is the kindling soul enkindling.”

Celebrities in the news:

Conan O’Brian’s bump on the head accident on set giving him a few days off are astrologically coincident with transiting Neptune retrograde approaching his natal Saturn. Saturn just opposed his natal Venus, while approaching Uranus retrograde is about to conjunct his Venus. Poor Conan Venus envy!? Assuming Conan can withstand the many changes and acclimations to the high airs of late night power, late November into December looks much more favorable to his ratings and health. Transiting Jupiter goes direct and conjuncts his natal Moon (increased popularity and favorability) in November, to go on to conjunct his natal Saturn in December (long-lasting power or another blip on the screen). Although now stirred and shaken, Conan will feel empowered and reborn in December. With Pluto in 2010-11 going to square his natal Jupiter, Conan will need to continue to metamorph and alchemically transform if he is to keep his sanity, job, and marriage to prime time.

Meanwhile, Jay Leno flirts with vicissitudes of popularity while Jupiter transit opposes his Pluto for next few months. With Saturn last year conjuncting his Moon/Mars in Virgo, Jay may have needed the break and rest. Secret little chronic health troubles with this aspect. With Pluto coming to oppose his natal Uranus, and Saturn/Uranus coming to square it, look for 2010 to bring many more changes in Leno’s programming. Will Jay Leno finally really retire? Will late 2010’s transit of Jupiter conjunct his natal Venus renew his love affair with his TV Show and the public? Will such love affair or other then renew Jay Leno for another hot go go? At any rate, astrologically, it’s been a rough transition and until later in 2010, it looks to get rougher. Well, he’s tough and when the times get tough, the tough get going. Jay’s free live show concerts are just one of his wondrous social cultural community gifts. Jupiter entering Pisces next year (2010) will trine his natal Uranus giving much sense of renewal, new joy, insight, levity, and ways to survive at the top of the entertainment pyramid scheme. Where’s the enlightenment channel when we need it?

Barbara Streisand has a new cd and just played a hot concert at a small venue in NY City. Barbara is a Taurus Sun with Mars conjunct Jupiter in Gemini for her beauty, voice, and projective skills; as well as her public popularity. The mirror does have two faces when it comes to Streisand’s Moon conjunct Pluto in Leo. This aspect gives her intense serenity, secrecy/privacy, and sensuous magnetism, as well as shining etheric chi or etheric life force. The Moon/Pluto paradox wants privacy and secrecy but the Leo shines out (gossip leaks) to the public. Transiting Pluto just finished a year or two in opposition to her natal Mars, and may reveal secret tensions in relationships. Barbara may be throwing herself into work to avoid facing some personal problem. A long-term aspect trines her natal Moon giving long-term security and power as long as she applies herself and doesn’t retire. Coupled with an approaching Jupiter conjunct her Venus next year, I astrologically expect Barbara Streisand to fall in love again and gift the public with many more amour creative sound tracks and public outings. With Uranus and Saturn opposition in the sky and both squaring her natal Mars in 2010, there could be some trouble in the crib, or with those she is contracted to work with. No worry though, with transiting Pluto approaching trine to her natal Sun, Barbara is strong for the future and coming into new eternally youthful power. She is also feeling her oats (strength) when it comes to expressing her emotional feelings and political sympathies, strong in supporting her favorite charities and spiritual causes. She is known to be the highest selling female artist and second only to Elvis Presley, beating both the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. With transiting Uranus approaching square to her natal Mars in 2010, expect the unexpected with this most private yet, at times, outwardly daring sensuous Venus in Pisces woman. For you Barbara Streisand fans, some of her best years are to come! Until Uranus conjuncts her natal Sun in about 8 years, the lady is hot, ever novel, creative, and intellectually on fire.

Iran has crazy aspects with Uranus transiting its natal Mars while transiting Saturn opposes its Mars. Certainly, there is danger of sudden precipitous warring actions or even explosive actions or accidents. Yet creative peace-making may also occur. There is freedom – Saturn is the attempt to dampen Martian war instincts for nuclear power. Neptune transiting approaching Venus conjunction portends of China’s near half trillion dollar investment in Iran’s oil industry enabling much money to be funded for both Iran’s escalating economy and military ambitions (as reported recently in NYTimes). All this being said, if escalating war talk is to be avoided, this year into next is the crucial time. Next year as transiting Jupiter enters Pisces to conjunct Iran’s natal Venus, more peaceful solutions may be found. Saturn’s present transit to Iran’s Mercury portends of a dueling stand-off and need to be cool, patient, and non-offensive with economic sanctions to avoid escalating troubles.

USA chart based on the Articles of Confederation, a business chart if you will, for America is November 15th, 1777. If this infamous chart made popular by David Solte has worth, Jupiter transit will conjunct the USA’s Ascending Sign in December 2009 giving at the least a healthy appearance of an economic recovery on the way. Neptune these last few years transiting the USA Ascending Sign depicts the difficult situation of our depending on cheap goods from China, thus allowing all our dollars to go to China who is presently buying the world up with such profits. Neptune also reveals here the confusion about exactly what is happening to the economy and why? Neptune opposing USA’s natal Jupiter depicts the draconian vampiristic effect dependency on foreign energy sources, outsourcing jobs, and addictive drugs (the Mexican drug cartels and Afghan Opium just to name two) have had on us. “Wanting money for nothing and our chicks for free” as the song goes, isn’t working. Neptune can be high-flying spirituality and a yet higher love/compassion, but its down side or shadow side is escapism, drugs, greedy profiteering, and pharmaceuticals and fake foods. It is also lying to yourself or feeling lied to. It is not exactly Emerson’s ideal of ‘Self Reliance’. Neptune can be the highest inspirations, but also indicates blindness caused by old romanesque bread and circus entertainment while the world burns in delusion, ignorance, war, pollution, and poverty of wisdom and intelligence, good food, water, and what Yeat’s would call ‘lack of imagination’. Let’s hope November 2009’s Saturn transit trining USA’s natal Moon brings the mass public online with what Thomas Paine called ‘common sense,’ and what Emerson calls ‘self-reliance’ and ‘OverSoul’. Have you seen the last lectures of Emerson at Harvard, which have just been published? Good stuff.

This October 9th-13th transit of Mars in opposition to USA’s natal Pluto portends of critical decision making and debate by our politicians and those of power in regard to banking issues, the politics of health, war, and car-making. Lots of doors open and close with this aspect of shrewd boldness and coercive ultimatum, finality of decision and persuasive bargaining. Look for the fall and rise of various auto stock. I still think its next spring when the real wheel of fortune and change chi chi cha chings.

The traditional Gemini Rising chart for the USA has Jupiter coming to conjunct the Moon indicating happiness for the masses. But what if you don’t go to masses and stay home gardening? For the third time, this aspect comes in early November giving much positive tidings for our economy and general happiness. As Jupiter enters Pisces next year, Jupiter will trine the USA Jupiter/Sun in Cancer. This again is good! This will help both our image in the world as well as our economy. Uranus transiting in opposition to natal Neptune end of October into early November indicates the danger of acting or reacting too hastily when it comes to problems in foreign lands, be it economic or militaristic. It also portends of weird storms and strange weather, and danger of precipitous negative emotions (due to near square to Mars).

President Barack Obama’s chart strangely has 18 degrees Aquarius rising conjunct the USA Scorpio Chart ascending sign. Jupiter/Chiron on his ascendent gives Obama a bit of healing power and magic. Jupiter transiting goes direct mid October conjuncting Obama’s ascendent in November giving the President a certain amount of success in trying to make everyone happy so to be happy himself. The end of November into December’s Uranus retro opposing his natal Mars portends of danger and the need not only for continued protection, but the need not to act or speak too hastily; yet to be ever-ready for response. Uranus/Mars can be bold and decisive, brave and daring, but also can over-react, get angry, argumentative, combative, or even accident prone. Yes, it can make for genius quick action and heroics, but not exactly good for making ultimatums or over-challenging others. Good for reacting quickly though to others’ challenges. Pluto approaching opposition to the President’s natal Venus again, late October into November, reveals both the popularity and unpopularity of this President. Here, there is a continual need to not make unnecessary enemies. Pluto/Venus is at its best with compassion for all who suffer, as well as attempting to include all at the round table. At worst, it is a loss of popularity or supporting unpopular views with the majority. It’s tough being an honest politician and many a man would debate there is even one. These are challenging times and the United States of America tends to give everyone a chance to prove or disprove themselves. Pluto/Venus aspects can be feeling rejected or helping those who feel rejected. The danger is helping those who won’t help themselves. When Saturn comes up to square Obama’s natal Venus in November, strong stands will be taken for and against many an issue in economics and politics. The country continues to feel polarized without a higher call. The President may then experience either a temporary drop in popularity and/or a growth spurt in his depth of perception as to the problems facing the world today, re-invigorating the grass roots. Saturn/Venus aspects can make one feel unappreciated, but they also conform and confirm to mature love, organic nature, and virtue commitments. Such aspects can also test one’s virtue. Saturn/Venus aspects are good for long term interests, but try one’s patience and fortitude.

Howard Stern’s chart reveals his wilder side this month. Can he be wilder?! Yuks. As transiting Mars conjuncts his natal Uranus while opposing his natal Sun, watch Howard become a jumping bean lightening bolt for change and mediocrity upset. Much energy arises for creating new views and news via radical thought and voicing. Howard Stern is an informational novelty, if not radio rich pornography of cross America nakedness bare all frankness. In nature, shock stimulates new gardens of growth; in radio, it can be left to resuscitating the corpse of old imaginations of happiness and what being rich inwardly and outwardly looks like. At times overly materialistic, Howard has moments of genius. Those who remember are true blue listeners. Will Howard once again reinvent himself? Where do you yo yo go when you are not only on the top, you are on satellites bouncing around the earth? Can you stay married and grow a garden? Can one be still? Mars approaches a square to his natal Neptune in October giving much energy for colorful antics and entertainment. It could also indicate Stern going buddhist more than transcendental. After all, how high can one go without rooting firmly in earth? Maybe that is why he got married. Mars/Neptune can be little accidents or slips from the tongue, as well as Freudian soul. Uranus retrograde is squaring his natal Jupiter adding to his vicissitudes of popularity having, in the course of the last while (with transiting Neptune opposing his natal Pluto), slipped and dipped in the popularity polls. Sirius Radio having financial troubles along with the auto companies’ economic woes (many get Sirius Radio with the car) hasn’t helped. Nonetheless, there’s always China. He could go work for China. Somehow, I don’t think so. December’s Jupiter transit opposing his natal Pluto may reveal more secrets and future moves of cashing in the chips or raising the bid. When Jupiter trines Howard’s natal Saturn and Mars next spring/summer, he may be coming back up, not only for much more air, but to buy more chips to bet with. Good aspects then for further successes in the Howard Stern School of Pirates of Radio Marketing and excessive profitability. If Neptune doesn’t present any unforeseen slips and vanishing escape hatches, look to 2015-16 for Howard to vanish or retire from Radio. Tidbit fact: I was an astrologer and player in Howard’s old days here in Detroit on WWWW Radio before I went on to JP McCarthy’s show.

Look for Joe Biden to get a little more respect and positive attention next year as Uranus transit trines his natal Sun and Venus, while also trining his natal Jupiter. Next year you might think him a contender for being the next President after President Obama leaves. With Neptune recently squaring Vice President’s natal Mercury, he hasn’t exactly been shining in the press with comments or gestures. Neptune squaring his natal Scorpio planets have a way of making it appear our VP is out of the loop or even loopy, but this will all change next year. Jupiter adding to the mix will increase his likability and popularity. I know you are saying “How the freakin’ fudge is this going to happen?” It’s Astrology Watson, Astrology. It’s not possible that he could be our next President, is it?

Billy Gibbons of ZZ TOP fame just blew through Detroit with a hot live performance. Billy’s lead rhythm guitar, heavy jamming, and rock solid gold song list, along with Dusty’s trustworthy bass, rocked solid to the drum and bone on Woodward. With Jupiter now transiting his natal Neptune and Saturn, to soon trine his natal Jupiter/Venus in Aquarius, look for new songs and video movie cds to emerge keeping Billy G and the boys on top their game for life (as if they weren’t already there!). Saturn just transited his Mars with transiting Uranus squaring Billy’s natal Sun may have locked into lots of new songs and creative innovative ways of expressing the Tex blues rock. Such aspect could also reveal a constant changing of plans with work associates. Uranus/Sun aspects can portend of trouble in the crib and roller-coaster rides when it comes to partners or co-hearts. It is the need to ever continue to rediscover self and others round, ever changing rules in relationship or business, change of heart or mind or even music. It makes for dynamically highly-charged new music and creative novelty. ZZ is laying tracks for the future. Stay tuned.

And now from Rudolf Steiner on Economics, Politics, and Social Life-

The social element is essential; it must be cherished. We shall see that in this Fifth Post-Atlantean Period there is a tendency to take no notice of the social in merely acting naturally. Rather it must be acquired consciously in working with one’s soul forces, while formerly it was felt instinctively in man. What is necessary and must be actively acquired is the interest of man in man. This is indeed the backbone of all social life.

It almost sounds paradoxical to say today that no clear conception of the so-called difficult ideas of economics can be gained if the interest of one for another does not increase, if people do not begin to compare the illusions which have sway in social life with present realities. One who really thinks about it recognizes the fact that simply by being a member of society one is in a complicated relation to others. Imagine that you have a $5 note in your pocket, and you make use of this $5 note by going shopping one morning, and you spend the full $5. What does it mean that you go out with a $5 note in your pocket? The $5 note is really an illusion — it is worth nothing in reality (even if it is metal money. At this point I do not want to discuss the theories of the Metalists and the Nominalists with regard to money; but even if it is metal money, it is still an illusion and of no real worth). Money is namely only a ‘go-between’. And only because in our day a certain social order exists, an order belonging purely to the State, therefore this $5 note which you have spent in the morning for different items is nothing else than an equivalent for so many days of labour of so many men. A number of men must have completed so many days of work, so much human labour must have flowed into the social order — must have crystallized itself into merchandise — in order for the apparent worth of the bank note to have any real value, but only at the command of the social order. The bank note only gives you the power to call into your service so much labour, or to put it another way, to command its worth in work. You can picture it in your mind: There I have a bank note, which assigns to me, according to my social position, the power over so many men. If you now see these workmen selling their labour hour by hour, as the equivalent value of that which you have in your purse as the $5 note, then you begin to get a picture of the real facts.

“Our relationships have become so complicated that we no longer pay attention to these things, especially if they do not concern us closely. I have an example which easily clarifies this. In the more difficult considerations of economics, in the areas of capital and interest and credit, things are quite complicated; so that even university professors and political economists, whose position should mean possession of adequate insight, really have no knowledge. Thus you can see that it is necessary to look at things correctly in these areas. Of course we cannot immediately take in hand the reform of the national economy, which has been forced into such a helpless condition by what is nowadays taught as political economy. But we can at least ask with respect to national education and other such matters: What must be done so that social life and forms are consciously established in opposition to anti-social forces? What is really required? I said that it would be difficult in our time for people to develop sufficient interest in each other. You do not have sufficient interest if you think that you can buy yourself something with a $5 note and do not remember the fact that this brings about a social relationship with certain other human beings and their labour-power. You only have an adequate interest when in your picture you are able to substitute for each apparent transaction (such as the exchange of goods for a $5 note) the real transaction which is linked with it.

“Now, I would say that the mere egoistic, soul-stirring talk of loving our fellow-men and acting upon this love at the first opportunity, that this does not constitute social life. This sort of love is, for the most part, terribly egoistic. Many a man is supported by what he has first gained through robbing his fellow-men in a truly patriarchal fashion, in order to create for himself an object for his self-love, so that he can then feel nice and warm with the thought, “You are doing this, you are doing that” One does not easily discover that a large part of the so-called love of doing good is a masked self-love. Therefore, the main consideration is not merely to think of what lies nearest to hand, thereby enhancing our self-love, but to feel it our duty to look carefully at the many-sided social structures in which we are placed. We must at first lay the foundations for such understanding. Yet few today are disposed to do so.”

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

President Obama, Dad-in-chief or Commander-in-Chief?

August 4th is President Obama’s birthday, right before the Full Moon Eclipse. With his Solar Return Moon in Capricorn, the Commander-in-Chief may feel more saddled up to play ‘Dad-in-Chief,’ continually having to get people to behave and not fight like kids. Seems the President finds himself playing the role of dad, coach, football announcer, ‘break-up-the-fight’ hockey referee, and news analyst more than commander-in-chief. Perhaps that is more in line with Aquarian Age ideals? With the impending Eclipse, and the President’s Solar Return chart’s Saturn on Midheaven, this month will bring the challenge of taking the lead or being lead, taking charge or being charged into action. Saturn wants no-nonsense practical results but is often placed in a ‘wait-and-see’ situation. Saturn calls for strong ‘take-the-lead’ leadership, or things get put on hold, procrastinated, or grid-locked. With Sun/Mercury in his Solar Return chart, President Obama may be finding himself as teacher, counselor, and moral big brother emulation model. The Solar Return Pluto in the second house opposing Venus in the eighth portrays the continual problems and power struggles in economics and secretive infighting. More specifically, how to fix banks, the economy, find a fair health plan amidst the powerful corporate complex insurance and pharmaceutical industry, and how to avoid or fix scandals and negative public relations and rumors. As well as who’s to pay or where is the money coming from that continues to be perplexing and challenging. The Neptune/Jupiter at the bottom of the chart indicates the strong spiritual ground President Obama taps into, as well as the need to avoid naive socialism and Chinese take-over of the world economy. Transit wise, the President continues to be lucky, forthright, victorious, and popular with the public due to transiting Jupiter near his natal Ascending Sign. With Pluto still opposing his natal Venus, the President needs watch out for both scandal and secret enemies, betrayal by a friend, or troubles with spies or false storytellers. Jupiter/Neptune brings inflated egos while the Pluto/Venus brings hurt feelings and personal injustice issues. The mix is emotionally volatile and needs to be handled with care; thus, Obama the caretaker, dad, counselor. In late August, transiting Saturn conjuncts Obama’s natal Mars perhaps indicating getting good work done but at a slowed or delayed pace. By November into December, the Uranus retrograde transit opposing his natal Mars indicates a now-or-never attitude with lots of breakthroughs and new initiatives leading, perhaps, to a more successful result. Or, is it more reversals of plans and overheated debate? Under current transits, it’s lots of hard work and grindingly slow results now until this coming November/December when possible breakthroughs to successes occur. The end of the year into 2010 will truly tell the story, and perhaps a positive turn-a-round in the economy, as well as good vibe health plans. Hey, is yoga and vegetarian diet part of the health planning? Coupons for your local health food store and metaphysical bookshop?!

A good book should awaken the life of the spirit, not simply impart a certain quantity of information. Reading it should be an experience with inner shocks, tensions, and solutions.”
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) Austrian Philosopher

When books and an individual come into collision and there is a hollow sound, this need not be the fault of the books!”
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) Austrian Philosopher

In the Gemini USA chart, transiting Uranus trining natal Mercury reveals that America’s on a new learning curve getting smarter on how to deal with our own world problems. A new thinking is emerging. We need lots of inexpensive educational opportunity to grow better futures. That is the investment and insurance of happiness and prosperity: loving and respecting Mother Nature and offering free lifelong education. Jupiter/Neptune near natal Moon portends of the United States as an individual and collective consciousness truly aspiring towards new morality and virtuous ideals, an alchemical re-spiritualization or re-awakening of the higher virtue and possibility, the higher angel.

August 1st, Venus opposes Pluto. Intimate love and healing or jealousy, gossip, worry and fret, feelings of loss or rejection. There is no end to pathology and vicious circles, not virtuous circles and spiritual friends. Choose love rather than anger to immortalize yourself. Good aspect for making necessary sacrifices for a better future. Over-indulgence can make you sick. Good aspect for compassion for idiots, but not good for idiot compassion. (See ‘Transcending Madness’ by Trungpa.) Venus/Pluto tends toward a deeper love and passion, otherwise feelings of being misunderstood, alone, hurt or rejected. A higher wisdom and compassion are called for.

“Not that any true adept would say aught against the naturalness and sacredness of pure sexual relationships; but that, to become an adept one must expand the finite into the Infinite, the personal into the Universal, man into Parabrahm- if one so choose to designate that Thing Unspeakable.”

-H.P.Blavatsky, Collected Writings volume 4, pg. 342

A Full Moon Eclipse in Aquarius on August 5th There is a tendency to throw away all that weighs or burdens the soul, an urge for higher freedoms and new adventure. The eclipse portends of breakthroughs or breakdowns, sudden turn of events from now and into the next 14 days. It’s musical chairs and time to dance or make a move. Continuing changes in negotiations and plans may perplex into next Sunday, then on Monday everyone grabs a seat. All fixed signs (Scorpio/Taurus/Leo/Aquarius) as well as Libra and Gemini are primarily affected. Do you need a higher calling? Or just need to let go of all the lower callings? Look for a sudden release or letting go or freeing up of various situations and pressing intrigue, biz, problem, or situation. The Eclipse takes place on a big “Black Hole” in Aquarius (sidereal Capricorn) portending of the need for a new alchemy or magic tantra, or even a counselor or another opinion. Better yet, the need to be a spiritual adventurer, a psycho-drama composter and celestial composer, a karma eater and dharma maker, a gardener for better futures, letting go of the past and maybe even the present in a magical metamorphosis of negativity into positivity, a fertilizing and nourisher of better futures. Yes, it’s time to quit channelling, surfing, talking and dreaming; it’s time to be your Higher Self in everyday life. Yep, if you understood that, you got it. Otherwise, review this page next month and ponder. August begins with Venus/Pluto aspects and ends with Mars/Pluto aspects. What was once free decision and choice may by the end of the month become need and necessity to make decisions now. Discovering how to work on oneself, and avoiding others working you over, may be the trick here. If one doesn’t get rid of the excessive psycho-drama by the end of the month, it may get rid of you. In other words: are you steering? Driving? Or do the things you do drive you steery weary, drive you crazy? (The book ‘Meaningful to Behold,’ as well as ‘The Work of the Angel in the Astral Body’ study may be helpful here.)

Can you still feel the effect of the Jupiter conjunct Neptune? Over-reaching or imagining followed by crashing reality? Psychic inflation followed by emotional deflation? The fantasy or adventure of ‘doing the world’, or ‘the world is doing me’? Artistic and creative or farce and deflated? It might be time to harvest or ‘make wise’ what you can and slowly make the return to earth.

“Space flights are merely an escape, a fleeing away from oneself, because it is easier to go to Mars or to the moon than it is to penetrate one’s own being.”

Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist, (1875-1961)

August 8th to 11th (exact on August 10th) Mars square Saturn. Is summer over or just beginning? Good aspect for ‘working’ with others. Not good for forcing one’s opinion. Often this aspect brings strong pressure to act or be acted upon, to work or be worked upon. The weather either burns or turns cold, and so do certain proclivities and friends. Mutable Signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces) along with Capricorn/Taurus/Libra/Aquarius are most affected. This aspect prolongs the inevitable but often forces long-delayed decisions. Often one feels stuck or belabored or weighed down with certain situations or people. An impasse demanding assertive action or force versus being stuck with dead weight or a lack of co-creative partnership or an inactive indifferent or cold person or situation. Good aspect for seeing the work right in front of you and tactfully persistently applying oneself to such. The ‘take one step at a time’ ‘deal with what’s right in front of you’ type aspect. Bad aspect for over-indulging or avoiding responsibility. Good aspect for getting caught with exactly what you need to work on next.

August 12th-14th Mars in Gemini trine Jupiter in Aquarius. Although this aspect portends of too much of a good thing, or going too far or over the top, over-expansive, this is a great aspect for expanding, socializing, playing, gaming, making successful plans and arrangements. Good for music, writing, networking, meetings of success and good fortune. Air signs are most favored in luck, money, and adventurous romance. This is a good time for exercise, rejuvenation, meditation, yoga, right diet, and preparing for new opportunity. Good time for explaining yourself, but why? Actions speak louder than words now. Mars in Gemini is words blowing in the wind. Jupiter in Aquarius is trying to include everybody but not everybody includes you. Just be yourself and let the chips fall, let the dice roll, let karma unfold and flower into dharma, into the open road ahead.

The End of Summer or the Last Dance Party?

“The fault of others is easily perceived, but that of oneself is difficult to perceive; the faults of others one lays open as much as possible, but one’s own fault one hides, as a cheat hides the bad die from the gambler.”

-Dhammapada

August 16th-18th, Mars trine Neptune, Mars square Uranus, Sun oppose Neptune, Mercury conjunct Saturn all pile up to indicate more than a few fallings out, partings of the way, trading sides, and major miscueings and train wrecks. Mars/Neptune/Uranus indicates premature or precipitive need to act quickly, respond quickly. Notorious aspects for flights of fancy and daredevil tactics, but also aspects for foolhardiness, explosive response, over-doing, or false dreaming, projecting, falling or flying, rather than practical holding of true ground, patience and understanding. Watch for extremes in the weather, crazy karma adventures, and much ado about nothing in these Shakespearean Comedic Tragic Times. Good aspects for all artistic, musical, gardening, or true love full of light adventure. Bad aspects for trusting others with your dharma, destiny, enlightenment, or promises to make you happy.   Otherwise, yes, miracles do happen. Here heaven and earth can meet, but can they listen and truly speak to each other? Usually these aspects warn of troubles, fights, anger, out-of-control antics, and childish behaviour later to be sorry for. Yes there are miracles but only if you have good karma for such, otherwise winning the lottery can mean losing your soul. Beware of lies and false hopes for false futures.

“Help the poor, but pity the ignorant rich.”

-H.P.Blavatsky, Collected Writings 12, p.61.

“To be wisely rich, you need more than money.”

-Aria Fairchild

August 20th New Moon in Leo leading into August 22-23 Sun enters Virgo with Venus trine Uranus followed by Sun trine Pluto. For a minute, everything is alright with the world. Water, Earth and Fire Signs are favored now. First baby steps in long-term investments and commitments for adult positive futures are possible now.

“Anger and jealousy can no more bear to lose sight of their objects than love.”

-George Eliot

“Love is wanting another to be happy, compassion that they cease suffering; wishing another to be free and spiritually enlightened is even a higher jeweled path.”

-Trebore Tau Bodhi

“So long as one has not developed a perfect sense of justice, he should prefer to err rather on the side of mercy than commit the slightest act of injustice.”

-H.P. Blavatsky, collected writings vol. 8

“There is often greater martyrdom to live for the love of, whether man or an ideal, than to die ” is a motto of the Mahatmas.

-HPB, collected writings 4, p. 603

August 25th, Mars enters Cancer – the signature for September. Mars will then conjunct the USA’s chart Sun, making for a more aggressive no-nonsense, and more assertive approach to both home and White House politics. Economics, healthcare, jobs, and personal security agendas command attention. With Mercury entering Libra and squaring Mars followed by the next day, along with Mars opposing Pluto (August 26th), look out for shoes being thrown at you. Lots of blame and shame, accusing others, scapegoating, and angry weird weather. Venus entering Leo and Mars opposing Pluto, egos and ultimatums are on the plate. This is a strong time to make demands but a bad time to use too much force. Beware of war drums and provocative behaviour escalating violence and storm. Yet, it is a good time to be honest with what you need and what you don’t need. Be honest with yourself, don’t force it on others, and these times be progressively good. You can’t force someone to love you. You can request what you desire, but you got to let them be free. Ask for what you want. Let things be what they are. Turn up your love, don’t demand it of others. Then, take what you get. Otherwise, wait for 2012, or when all the cattle come home. If you don’t get this, read Osho’s Book of Secrets or HPB’s Isis Unveiled, or Steiner’s Rosicrucian Wisdom, then come talk to me again. In other words: do your homework.

“Remember, when you add the big ‘D’ to ‘anger’, you get Danger.”

Aria Fairchild

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”  ~Buddha

In the Detroit incorporation chart, Detroit is a Capricorn: January 18,1802. The present transiting Pluto conjunct natal Mars in the eighth house reveals the ongoing political scandals, indictments, deaths, and economic hard times, as well as corporate take-over of everything. Hopefully, it also indicates an end to escalating crime, poverty, homelessness, and joblessness. With Transiting Uranus squaring that same natal Mars 2010-11, look for a great new car as well as new unique economic initiatives to lift Detroit back up to world leadership capacity and creative social cultural participatoriness.

The place we rip open again and again that always heals — that’s God.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

Detroit’s more esoteric chart based on Cadillac founding, has Sun in Leo for regal pride in spite of everything and anything that happens. Moon conjunct Jupiter in Pisces indicates Detroit’s ‘let’s party’ mentality, as well as high care-free spirited idealism, perhaps even strong religious and spiritual virtue values. In Pisces though, it’s not always realistic nor practical. Often it’s just dreaming of something better, praying and asking for something better. Pisces needs to act, to work, to realize, not fantasize. Transiting Uranus conjunct natal Saturn all this past year reveals the constantly changing battlefield when it comes to how to dig out of near bankruptcy, corporatization dictatorship, and profit making cronyism and greed. With Mars squaring Moon first week of August, look for harsh words and sparks to fly in the continuing ‘who’s to blame’ game and how many crooks can we still find in office. By summer next year, Jupiter will conjunct natal Moon to truly raise the level of social consciousness, as well as real estate values, and Detroit may then begin a true road to recovery with many a new venture in capitalism and social cultural growth. This also is a good aspect indicative of Detroit’s sports actually going all the way and winning at the end! Did I say Hockey and Baseball?!?

When ideas fail, words come in very handy.”
Goethe

Detroit Mayor Bing has transiting Pluto retrograde coming to conjunct his natal Moon, ouch! Is the Mayor running up against problems or is he gaining power and speed? This aspect can give one second thoughts about how much fun it is being Mayor of Detroit. Indeed, it may get worse before getting better. More bankruptcy or lots more revamping? Here, one wants to keep their friends and business separate or you may lose your business and friends. Even health, as well as money, is at issue. How do you keep your friends and business separate in Politics these days? How’s that going to happen?! Health and money and psychodrama with those close by are often the challenge with such aspects. On the positive note, this aspect forces one to really realize what matters most, and helps one stick to their guns. Hey!? Don’t we have too many guns? Good aspect for strongly standing behind (sometimes people in front with this one, but mostly behind) what one really believes in. Taking a stand for what’s right is called for with this aspect. Otherwise there are internal secret problems forcing retreat. His transiting Jupiter trine natal Venus and Saturn in grand trine makes for a bit of good luck and positive spirit offering many opportunities of good friends and favorable moments of good luck to come help in his time of need. 2011 brings many more good aspects to Bing’s chart, if he and we can wait that long.

With July’s eclipse conjunct Madonna’s natal (normally private) Sun/Pluto, privates become public. Her ex-bodyguard boyfriend is offering secret erotic love cassettes, video, and letters to be auctioned. ‘Holy Green Hornet Butler lover, Batgirl!’ With transiting retrograde Neptune opposing Madonna’s natal Sun this year into October/November, more than one erotic ghost of sticky hard candy may emerge. Neptune opposition usually reveals that others lie about you, deceive you, betray you, and yes at times, inspire and romance you. She’s got a lot on her plate. In losing what’s far away and what’s deadly close, oft one finds middle ground, peace, and true self. Will Madonna become a buddhist? A born again Yogi? A new psychic? Neptune has a way of remaking oneself, rebirthing and renewing oneself. Madonna will do this once again and re-appear in new vogue, new view, clothes and smile, new movie roles, witty wisdoms and song. Yes.

“There is a road, steep and thorny, beset with perils of every kind, but yet a road, and it leads to the very heart of the Universe:

I can tell you how to find those who will show you the secret gateway that opens inward only, and closes fast behind the neophyte for evermore.

There is no danger that dauntless courage cannot conquer;
there is no trial that spotless purity cannot pass through;
there is no difficulty that strong intellect cannot surmount.
For those who win onwards there is a reward past all telling
– the power to bless and save humanity;
for those who fail, there are other lives in which success may come.”

-HPB, C.W. 13, pg. 219

Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it. The man who knows how will always have a job. The man who also knows why will always be his boss. As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

“In the future 6th post Atlantean cultural epoch and even now with those who have advanced their own spiritual mind stream; one feels what others feel, both the joy and the pain. We share an inner life just like we share an outer world. We joy in the freedom of heart and mind creating and co-creating god like qualities, virtue and grace, compassion and truth. We consciously see and hear, touch and are touched by spiritual realities both in ourselves and all others, all living things. In the same higher sense, we now cross the threshold to worlds of spiritual love and truth. Human beings can now experience this ‘at-one-ment’ of their own I AM with the spiritual worlds and every other I AM in such. Then the true meaning of I AM THAT I AM will be self evident. At the moment, this is experienced in the imagination and inspired by the intuition of the average person. Only the advanced spiritual practitioner who is clear about who ‘I AM’ and who I am not may truly knock at the door. We are nearing a time in collective humanity when all of us are becoming psychic to every virtue and non-virtue, and must consciously decide to be spiritual creative, alive. We are nearing the 2012 time of the Apocalypse of ignorance and delusion and the rebirth of the Great Goddess, an ecology, economics, and politics of loving kindness and compassion. This ever renewing birth of the future is the present tension of the time, the higher morality and virtue of our own Spirit calling our Souls home to the heart of the matter.”

-Robert Thibodeau at an OM Cafe lecture

“Many people will walk in and out of your life,
But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.
If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses much more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others –
you can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.”
Eleanor Roosevelt, American politician, wife of FDR

“Either you think — or else others have to think for you and take power from you, pervert and discipline your natural tastes, civilize and sterilize you.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald (American Writer)

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.”Oscar Wilde [Playwright]

Astrological Events for May 2009

  1. May 7th – Mercury retrograde after Venus square Pluto on May 2nd. Oh this will be fun! Old arcane karma comes to hit you in the face, a heart of love reckoning, and a new approach to what needs to be done to make the future work. These may be the issues. On the other hand, it’s deep love: wanting it, getting it, and now what to do with it. Old issues of fear/desire obscure the view. Mercury in Gemini going retrograde re-enters Taurus on May 13th indicating a need to be more practical and down-to-earth than superficial genius on paper. Do yoga, meditate, re-write the script for practical genius to shine indeed. Mercury goes direct on May 30th the day after Neptune goes retrograde on the 29th. Hopefully spring warmth will arrive with Sun square Jupiter on May 15th and we won’t have to wait till the end of May when Mercury goes direct. Mercury retrograde into Taurus may make us reconfigure what is real security and savings; what is real futurity. Down-to-earth gardening, sewing, cooking, weaving friends, sharing, hands-on stuff is what works. Late Taurus is known to be a part of the Zodiac that the really rich people enjoy, so there may be a re-questioning of what it means to be rich, both inwardly and outwardly. What it means to be poor, both inwardly and outwardly; in qualities and capacities!?! It truly is a new time to spring forth by both looking deeper within, righting the wrongs of the past, catch up to unfinished business, and boldly going where your past never allowed you to go. We are spirit souls in a material world.
  2. Saturn is still going retrograde indicating more work-related troubles. The good news is that when Saturn goes forward or direct the night of May 16th, on Armed Forces Day, a shift will start to take place getting people back to work with good jobs culminating in late October when Saturn goes into Libra. At that time, we’ll be back to work but starting to ponder the workability and feasibility of our relationships and partners long term.
  3. Jupiter conjunct Neptune on May 27th portends of magical times, over-the-top imaginative luminal numinous experience. Be careful of Virgin Mary sightings, UFO sightings, Elvis sightings, and Harmonic Convergence memorial services. Until Jupiter goes retrograde on June 15th, you can’t trust the future and its many possibilities and lucid dreams. When Jupiter goes direct in October, everyone will be ‘kind of’ unified in the vision and dream of how the future is going to work for everyone.
  4. Venus is chasing Mars in Aries and will conjunct Mars on June 21st (Solstice), preceded by Jupiter retrograde June 16th, Moon trigger to the Venus/Mars June 19th and Sun square Uranus and Sun trine Neptune on June 21st. And it is closely followed by Sun oppose Pluto also on June 21st. Surely, this will be an interesting time when many jump ship and join the ‘other side’. Love bubbles may pop, out with the old and in with the new, as well as the myth reality workings of not putting new wine in old bottles. Or can you? This time will prove to be quite erotic and for others, neurotic and psychotic. Venus is the feminine principle chasing the male Mars energy. Should be interesting time.
  5. Pluto opposing the USA Venus this month portends of more bankruptcies and bailouts, banking problems and concerns over children and mothers. Venus/Pluto always is dangerous for people with problems of jealousy, obsession, compulsive behaviour and misbehaviour. Good aspect for compassion for the underdog who is getting beat up by whoever, whatever, forever. Also good for long-term love, gardening, behind-the-scenes good workings.
  6. The best thing in May will be Robert’s live music May 29th and May 31st, join us for a fun time.

Astrology for January 2009

Compliments of the Mayflower Bookshop, Robert Thibodeau (248-547-8227) http://web.mac.com/mayflowerbookshop

  1. Jupiter enters Aquarius on January 5th and, for a year, the hippie (or surf bum, party-goer, nightclubber, midnight romancer, or travel dog) in you will come out fantasizing that the New Age of Dumb Fun and Magic is here. Jupiter/Neptune/Uranus form a mutual reception giving much positive spirit and hope for change, as well as uplifting rearrangement of friends, social networking, technological advance, and escape from whatever prison of addictions one has. Jupiter in Aquarius is most positive for all signs and planets in Air signs: Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra. It also favors creative endeavors by Scorpio and Taurus signs. For the Fixed and Air signs, the main danger of Jupiter in Aquarius is over-doing or excess, laziness both spiritually and matter-of-factly, and finding oneself just talking about stuff, but not really doing anything about it. Armchair generals have never been more frequent. JUPITER/NEPTUNE aspects this year are good for gardening, poetics, art, new music and film, and higher spiritual romance and comedy. Often associated with miracles and scientific wonders, the Jupiter/Neptune aspects make for high road aspirations and novelty. The danger of such aspects is delusions of grandeur and psychic inflation, as well as wanderlust and unnecessary wanderings and dreaming. The dreams we have this year will really manifest in 2010 when Jupiter conjuncts Uranus. Expect a really cost-efficient, ecologically sound car (or form of transportation) then. Also at that time, there will be major breakthroughs and advances in communications, computers, informations systems, technology, and alternative energies.
  2. The January 20th inauguration of the new President Obama has the Sun in Aquarius for the positive change vibe, but with Mercury retrograde and conjunct the Sun on that day, there will be much difficult work to do as the newly elected President faces the huge task of re-working or even reversing economic, ecological, militaristic, and social ills. With many major thinkers these days predicting the disintegration and fractionalizing of the USA by 2010-12, and with more scandals than ever in the financial quarters of banking, mortgage, sports, and politics, there are more troubles than hairs on a rabbit, and the needle of repair is not even hidden in the haystack of problems. I dare say it appears that the newly elected government officials are walking into a wild beehive astir with the frenzy of over-complicated matters, and they have little time and high pressure to amend them. The sweet honey days of high profits for many may be over for awhile. Jupiter in Aquarius often brings many new adventures and quests for the gold, new technologies and new opportunities for investment—if you can live on the edge of Uranus, Chiron, and Saturn, the rulers of Aquarius. This aspect is good for working with others for the good of others. A sense of brotherhood and sisterhood, the family of humankind is always present with Aquarius aspects.
  3. Mercury in Aquarius goes retrograde on January 11th until February 1st when it goes forward from Capricorn. Here the high ideals and goals of the new year may take a step back to deal with the practical matters at hand, which are blocking forward motion. Getting the knots out of the strings before making new ties is the call of Mercury retrograde. Mercury dipping back into Capricorn demands realistic, practical, down-to-earth details in planning, as well as authoritative power plays and one-up-man-ship manoeuvres.
  4. February 5th’s Saturn opposing Uranus and Venus square Pluto may find some heavy restructuring of plans laid out in January’s inauguration into the new year. Cardinal signs need to think long-term when it comes to people and things you love. Letting go of what doesn’t work is always helpful to ‘lift-off’ and ‘take-off’ with future plans. The Mutable signs continue to struggle with ever-changing flight plans and dreams, and how one’s day-to-day lifestyle and work fit into such future endeavors. Cardinal signs may find themselves coming into new strength and power, but this is dependent on the continuing ability to jettison old modes of behaviour and habit, not getting stuck on repeating past formulas nor allowing the old ghost of self (or others) to retard your progress. The breakthrough for Cardinal signs will come in 2010-2012. At the moment, some are just breaking wind.
  5. If you behave yourself, and don’t slip on over-shooting the mark, mistaking a landslide for a white elephant, nor imagining this world offers something for free, January could prove to be a seemingly magical journey on the love and pleasure side of the street. January 20th to the 25th could prove for some to be a good time for high romance, spirit’d adventure and joy, and successful financial gain. With Sun in Aquarius, Venus conjuncts Uranus in Pisces (January 22nd) and then opposes Saturn (January 24th) when the Sun conjuncts Jupiter. This may well just be a week of partying during the Presidential Inauguration. It is also a week of readjusting your creative view of love and exactly what will make you happy, or not. Lots of insight into who’s who here. This will also be a week of great adventure in music, the arts, romance, new financial adventure and opportunity. Take care to not crash and burn by the end of January with dreaded aspects of weird weather and crazy people by February 5th. Lots of new economic breakthroughs, planning and structure around the New Moon on the 26th. Adjustments to such, and more crazy psychic political economic warring weather patterns by February 5th. Air and Water signs are especially applicable to the love and joy vibe this month.
  6. WEATHER: Crazy psychic weather days, good for cleaning and catching up to the past and trying to metamorphose into the future include January 2nd into 3rd, 9th into 10th, 14th into 15th, 19th, 22nd into 24th, and the 27th. Be patient and cautious if traveling on these days. Good days to catch up, clean up, and ‘fess up to what still needs to be worked on.
  7. With Mars cruising between Pluto and the Sun this month, and Chiron near Node/Neptune, take care to avoid people who take things too personally, are easily angered, or are a bit too forceful. On the flip side, these have really been the times for creative mavericks to have their say, stake their turf, and get their ya ya’s out. If you yourself feel the creative and wild forces of the Dionysian urge, take heart to listen to your audience a little better, between your pertinent expressions of yourself and the world you conceive.
  8. Books worth reading and pondering about before winter is over (available at Mayflower bookshop) include:

a) The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity by Rudolf Steiner

b) Expanding Tonal Awareness, A musical exploration of the evolution of consciousness guided by the monochord

c) Freedom of Thought and Societal Forces by Rudolf Steiner

d) Inner Reading and Inner Hearing by Rudolf Steiner

e) The Therapeutic Eye by Selg. Reveals tips on how Steiner could read your face.

f) Good Life, Good Death by Gelek Rimpoche

g) BioDynamic Wine Demystified by Joly.

h) You can’t read it, but you can sure eat it—Yummy Good for Your Health and Tummy South River Miso is in. Great for putting in soups or even on sandwiches.
