“Anything is possible …The ideas of an insane person differ from the conception of a genius mainly because experiment invalidates the former and confirms the latter.”

-from the preface to Lakhovsky’s book ‘The Secret of Life’; quoted from ‘Agriculture of Tomorrow’ by Kolisko

“Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.”

~Attributed to both Jonathan Swift and Benjamin Franklin

“One part of us is no-thingness, selfless and empty, open and awakened space, the other part of us is related to everything in the world; in between, in the gap, is the infinite possibility of ignorance and pain, or wisdom and bliss. It really is a choice each of us has to make when alone with ourselves.”

-Trebore Tau Bodhi, Mayflower Bookshop

“Compassion automatically invites you to relate with people because you no longer regard people as a drain on your energy.”

-Chogyam Trungpa

1. Full Moon in Pisces September 4th preceded by Mercury in Libra square Mars in Cancer on September 3rd. It’s important in these Michaelic Angelic times to think before acting. Pisces/Cancer wants to express feelings and emotions, while Mercury takes more thoughtful leads and mindfully smart suggestions as to appropriate actions, and intellectually responsible expressions of feelings and emotion. Fights between the head and heart? Wild fires vs. stormy rain? Holy tropical storm, typhoon, quake, and wildfire Batman!?! Ideals of love and romance clash with the working necessities of life. Inflated obsessions and the need for novelty cross wires with common sense practicality and down-to-earth necessities. With the Moon triggering off the Jupiter/Neptune in Aquarius on September 2nd-3rd, watch out for things going to high-flying extremes. There is a tendency of going unconscious, unconsciously over-doing things, along with wandering mind followed by body.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”

~Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere’s Fan, 1893

Spiritual perceptions are now at high peek. Practically speaking, it’s the last of summer, time to play, frolic, expand, and feel a greater sense of unity/love while the music of summer still plays. Those who don’t hear the music think the dancers, musicians, and magicians mad. With the recent Mars oppose Pluto, many feel the need to escape what excessively binds or holds them back, smothers or limits individual freedom. The Full Moon energy wants peaceful harmonious solutions to conflicts, obsessions, jealousies, and insecurities. Emotions can power the boat, too much weight of thinking can sink it. The rudder of compassion’s depth, the high sail of right thinking and the compass of virtuous motive, coupled with a sense of strong hand and sound heart enable samsara’s sailer to follow a higher star to greater landing, manifestation, and destiny’s awakening.

“Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.”

2. September 7th Mercury goes retrograde. This will begin a phase, till Mercury goes direct on the 29th, of the music stopping and interrupting, forcing many a person to find their chair or right seat of consciousness. Mercury going back from Libra to the later degrees of Virgo starting September 17th may be a ball-breaker and jawbreaker when it comes to any and all negotiations. Virgo’s demand for details can stifle and suppress Libra’s ideals and dreams of peace and harmony and everyone getting along.

So often time it happens that we all live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key.”

~The Eagles, ‘Already Gone’

3. Pluto goes direct on September 11th completing, through the next 6 months, the karmic lessons and the meaning of life’s experiences since Pluto first entered Sagittarius in 1995. Particularly the last few years, or even the last few months, if not the last 14 years, come into a digestible meaningful insight allowing futurity and progress.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”

~Joseph Campbell

Just like we need to digest our food, we need to digest our experience to move forward. Pluto went retrograde last April backing off the Cardinal Signs while reasserting pressure on the previous learning lessons of the Mutable Signs.

“The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise — with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.”

-Abraham Lincoln, December 1, 1862 in Message to Congress

“We are threatened by the now so we jump to the past or the future.”

-Chogyam Trungpa

Pluto now unabashedly goes direct plowing further into Capricorn affecting primarily the Cardinal Signs. Regenerate or degenerate, renew and revivify or decay and rot, compost or decompose, is the prevalent theme of Pluto. Pluto in Capricorn reveals the need to captain one’s own ship, or at the least be under the tutelage of someone who has their right spiritual and practical material bearings in these stormy and chaotic world times.

“Possessions are usually diminished by possession.”

4. September 15th Saturn in Virgo opposes retrograde Uranus in Pisces, while Moon/Venus in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius. Are you resisting change, or are you changing to resist? If change is the mother of invention, practical grounding and holding still for a change is the father. Saturn is necessity, Uranus is freedom, but also Uranus wants freedom from the Dogmas of Saturn. Saturn wants to keep the roof from falling off, manifest and incarnate into form what revelations and new insights Uranus brings. With an opposition, there is a tension or a conflict of opposites. Also, one could say, that personal freedoms are at odds with personal duty or necessity. Saturn is Karma from the past trying to find new ways (Uranus) to work out, play out. Uranus in Pisces portends of premature actions, formulations, and false jump starts. At best, these are preparatory thoughts and actions precipitant to Uranus going into Aries late in 2009. From the earth perspective, this duality calls for loving kindness, meditation, patience, and compassion; these are the magic keys turning the lock to free one from fixation and vague ghostly notions of reality and the way to go. Love is what makes the world go round. Higher truth is what stills us, roots us, grounds us, and gives us a star to follow and a sun to rise. At Mayflower, Rudolf Steiner’s books can help— ‘Philosophy of Freedom,’ ‘Riddles of Philosophy,’ ‘Freedom of Thought and Societal Forces,’ ‘Karmic Relationships,’ and his ‘Necessity and Freedom’. Osho has ‘Freedom, Love, and Aloneness’. Tibetan wise, there are books on the Three Principled Path, as well as ‘Meaningful to Behold’. Turn the light of the Mind on, ignite the heart of compassion and higher truth!

“Wise and prudent men – intelligent conservatives – have long known that in a changing world worthy institutions can be conserved only by adjusting them to the changing time.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt

The Moon in Leo gives magnetic power to Venus’s star tractor beam, attractiveness and peace-making, ideal romance, and futuristic possibilities. One can now see the inner worth of people and things. In the window of opportunity times of the great VENUS TRANSIT (2004 and 2012), everything we do with the intention of love, loving kindness, and compassion, fulfills our Karma, and creates the possibility and potential of DESTINY, Dharma, and Spiritual fulfillment.

“Too often, people think that solving the world’s problems is based on conquering the earth, rather than touching the earth, touching ground.”

Chogyam Trungpa

Saturn is in Virgo now for the third of five Saturn opposition Uranus in Pisces transits. Hot holy or coldy moldy mutable signs Bat Man! This transit has a strong hand demanding accurate and right details, and practical grounding in what matters day-to-day. Earth Signs prevail in a ‘coming-to-one’s-senses’ practically speaking. If you feel spaced out, consider a more alkaline or yang diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, and chewing both your food and past experience a bit better. Patience, persistence, endurance, and perseverance work well for success with this astrological formula.

“The only completely consistent people are dead.”

Aldous Huxley

The paradox comes in the willingness to change your self to change the world around you, as well as the ability or freedom to change the world around you to change your self. It works both ways. The Pisces/Aquarius Jupiter/Neptune energy portends of the danger of inflation, falsely shooting from the hip, or slipping on mistaken views/thoughts/false ideals or mistaken actions or reactions. A need to see what works – long-term healing, security, grounding and enduring working relationships is the appeal now. It is interesting to note that the top-selling Bible in North America, the chosen Bible by conservative evangelicals, The New International Version (NIV) is being revised anew. The last revision was 25 years ago. Fundamentalists claim this version of the bible is the only real bible and authoritative word of God. Over 300 million NIV Bibles are in print worldwide. Saturn/Uranus aspects are infamous for revising all structures of authority. They are also infamous for authorities structuring change. Some want to get out of the box, others in the box. Neptune wants to dream the box, Jupiter share the box, Venus feel the box, and Mars penetrate the box. The stars magnetically circle the box. Peter Pan says his shadow is in the box. Pandora’s experience is it’s dangerous to open the box. One thing is for sure, can we have one day in the world where everyone puts down the boxing gloves to pick up the gardening tools?!? Simultaneously, all of Rudolf Steiner’s books and talks are being published, as are most great authors of spiritual tomes. Weirdly opposite of this is the closing or shrinking of so many bookstores and even libraries across America. Recently Shaman’s Drum in Ann Arbor closed, Borders is struggling to fend off bankruptcy, while the search engine goliath Google is making legal headway fighting to scan and digitize all books and libraries without fear of prosecution, creating an ahrimanic exclusive electronic Alexandrian library, which could have many a weird future commercial demand and privy access denying rights to free education and research, as well as copyright infringement. One commercial venture should not control all the books and such services of the future. These are all strong moral (Saturn/past) and ethical (Uranus/future precipitating in present) issues to be dealt with in coming times. Trees and books are disappearing, inner virtue knowledge and wisdom need to arise to meet the challenges.

5. Sun oppose Uranus and Mercury square Pluto on September 17th, with New Moon conjunct Saturn both opposing Uranus on the 18th, continues the theme of how to jettison unnecessary ‘baggage’. Outdated technology and habits ossify the id factor. Old formulas and programs no longer work or serve one’s better nature, higher self, nor futures.  All the while, one is attempting to do the right thing for the good of the long run. These aspects portend of shocking news or events that could destabilize many a life or pattern. Huge events or decision-making at this time may give a temporary but strong volatility to world stock markets, as investors scramble for right positions in ever-changing directions in markets. Also look for strong volatile weather patterns, storms, and unusually strong debate, argument, and discourse. To summarize, September portends of having strongly diverse and seemingly contrarian energetics concerning how to proceed, advance, and further projects, aims and goals, while not upsetting too many others. How to rid oneself of wrong habits, or people with wrong habits, without offending or riling others to protest or angrily react. Uranus wants to change or be changed, Saturn wants to control, or secure, or contract and focus. Uranus in Pisces tries to quickly learn from past mistakes, while Saturn in Virgo is the heavy taskmaster and cutting critical mind. The desire to free the imagination, feelings and adventurous spirit conflict with the negative and critical mind in self and others. Quick escapes and genius moments are challenged by long-term goals and immediate needs or concerns. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the esoteric ruler of China, while Saturn represents the USA’s material technology. The race of alternative and/or green energy has China rushing to produce solar products to sell to its newly imagined colonies. 2010’s Uranus going into Aries may reveal who will take the lead with innovative technologies holding the hope of sustainability and ecological wisdom.

“Change is the law of life and those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”

—John F. Kennedy

With billions more people projected to arrive on earth in the near future, while the amount of arable (farmable food making) land per person has shrunk from 1 acre in 1970 to a half acre in 2000 and projected to be ⅓ acre by 2050 we may need more than vertical farming, we may need to learn to eat dirt and sun juice. The new learning curve is to stop treating each other and the earth like a car or machine or high school dining hall, and start learning to treat each other and the earth like a life-long love affair with a garden, or a musical instrument, in the spirit of our own soul. We are each other’s mother, lover, friend, and musical instrument and garden! Try to live into this, see this.

“An important scientific innovation rarely makes its way rapidly winning over and converting its opponents; it rarely happens that Saul becomes Paul. What does happen is that its opponents gradually die out and that the growing generation is familiarized with the idea from the beginning.”

—Max Planck, The Philosophy of Physics, 1936

Moon in Sage Sagittarius on September 23rd will attempt to make sense of it all, making strong decisions to cut losses and move on to strategies of financial and inner growth combined.

“Most of our assumptions have outlived their uselessness.”

—Marshall McLuhan

In November 2009, when Saturn goes into Libra and out of Virgo, our politicians will begin to work together to strategize a better future for us all.

6. Mercury goes direct September 29th, with Moon in Aquarius conjunct Jupiter, bringing a refreshing healing sense of wholeness and good futures to the heart and mind, leading us into October 4th’s Harvest Moon and October 13th’s Jupiter going direct from retrograde. This is a good time to make new friends, cherish old friends, and to plow ahead with all good projects of maturity and futurity.

“All is connected … no one thing can change by itself.”

—Paul Hawken, ‘Natural Capitalism’, Yoga Journal October 1994, On Fear and Greed

The middle way between extreme behaviour is good. Holding the tension of opposites in stillness and compassion opens new doors of insight and opportunity. Fear is clinging to perishables. Fear doesn’t allow you to see where your Higher Self has chosen to go. Fear clings to the key but fails to open the door. Greed is an attempt to fill emptiness. Perishables teach impermanence and preciousness of this fleeting moment. Will to love truth and truth will reveal love. Emptiness teaches us there is still room to move, infinite possibilities to explore. Every loss or emptying is a way, a teaching, to not be full of oneself and that the self is still growing. Emptiness gives a bit of room to move outside and inside the tree of life, dodecahedron of life, e’en the ladder of hierarchy; like death, it makes us all equal. Greed is always in fear of want, loss, and lack of the affinity to infinity. Fear is afraid of something being taken away by another greed bigger than one’s sense of self. Fear is the greed of self. Greed is the fear of true Self.

“Whenever you fall, pick something up.”

~Oswald Avery

“The same key that opens a hellish experience, turned the other way, opens the gates of heaven. If heaven is not here now within us, don’t expect it to be there when you’re gone. Everywhere is paradise to the heavenly soul. Wisdom accumulates from experience. Love is wisdom applied to daily life.”

“Got no checkbooks, got no banks,

Still I’d like to express my thanks –

I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night.”
