“The Philosophy of Freedom is not just to free yourself from troubles and others,

it’s to free yourself with others in wisdom and compassion;

to grow a garden and circle of friends.

co-creative to the world without end –

this is the knock on the door to nirvana,

this the beat of the heart.”

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

President Obama, Dad-in-chief or Commander-in-Chief?

August 4th is President Obama’s birthday, right before the Full Moon Eclipse. With his Solar Return Moon in Capricorn, the Commander-in-Chief may feel more saddled up to play ‘Dad-in-Chief,’ continually having to get people to behave and not fight like kids. Seems the President finds himself playing the role of dad, coach, football announcer, ‘break-up-the-fight’ hockey referee, and news analyst more than commander-in-chief. Perhaps that is more in line with Aquarian Age ideals? With the impending Eclipse, and the President’s Solar Return chart’s Saturn on Midheaven, this month will bring the challenge of taking the lead or being lead, taking charge or being charged into action. Saturn wants no-nonsense practical results but is often placed in a ‘wait-and-see’ situation. Saturn calls for strong ‘take-the-lead’ leadership, or things get put on hold, procrastinated, or grid-locked. With Sun/Mercury in his Solar Return chart, President Obama may be finding himself as teacher, counselor, and moral big brother emulation model. The Solar Return Pluto in the second house opposing Venus in the eighth portrays the continual problems and power struggles in economics and secretive infighting. More specifically, how to fix banks, the economy, find a fair health plan amidst the powerful corporate complex insurance and pharmaceutical industry, and how to avoid or fix scandals and negative public relations and rumors. As well as who’s to pay or where is the money coming from that continues to be perplexing and challenging. The Neptune/Jupiter at the bottom of the chart indicates the strong spiritual ground President Obama taps into, as well as the need to avoid naive socialism and Chinese take-over of the world economy. Transit wise, the President continues to be lucky, forthright, victorious, and popular with the public due to transiting Jupiter near his natal Ascending Sign. With Pluto still opposing his natal Venus, the President needs watch out for both scandal and secret enemies, betrayal by a friend, or troubles with spies or false storytellers. Jupiter/Neptune brings inflated egos while the Pluto/Venus brings hurt feelings and personal injustice issues. The mix is emotionally volatile and needs to be handled with care; thus, Obama the caretaker, dad, counselor. In late August, transiting Saturn conjuncts Obama’s natal Mars perhaps indicating getting good work done but at a slowed or delayed pace. By November into December, the Uranus retrograde transit opposing his natal Mars indicates a now-or-never attitude with lots of breakthroughs and new initiatives leading, perhaps, to a more successful result. Or, is it more reversals of plans and overheated debate? Under current transits, it’s lots of hard work and grindingly slow results now until this coming November/December when possible breakthroughs to successes occur. The end of the year into 2010 will truly tell the story, and perhaps a positive turn-a-round in the economy, as well as good vibe health plans. Hey, is yoga and vegetarian diet part of the health planning? Coupons for your local health food store and metaphysical bookshop?!

A good book should awaken the life of the spirit, not simply impart a certain quantity of information. Reading it should be an experience with inner shocks, tensions, and solutions.”
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) Austrian Philosopher

When books and an individual come into collision and there is a hollow sound, this need not be the fault of the books!”
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) Austrian Philosopher

In the Gemini USA chart, transiting Uranus trining natal Mercury reveals that America’s on a new learning curve getting smarter on how to deal with our own world problems. A new thinking is emerging. We need lots of inexpensive educational opportunity to grow better futures. That is the investment and insurance of happiness and prosperity: loving and respecting Mother Nature and offering free lifelong education. Jupiter/Neptune near natal Moon portends of the United States as an individual and collective consciousness truly aspiring towards new morality and virtuous ideals, an alchemical re-spiritualization or re-awakening of the higher virtue and possibility, the higher angel.

August 1st, Venus opposes Pluto. Intimate love and healing or jealousy, gossip, worry and fret, feelings of loss or rejection. There is no end to pathology and vicious circles, not virtuous circles and spiritual friends. Choose love rather than anger to immortalize yourself. Good aspect for making necessary sacrifices for a better future. Over-indulgence can make you sick. Good aspect for compassion for idiots, but not good for idiot compassion. (See ‘Transcending Madness’ by Trungpa.) Venus/Pluto tends toward a deeper love and passion, otherwise feelings of being misunderstood, alone, hurt or rejected. A higher wisdom and compassion are called for.

“Not that any true adept would say aught against the naturalness and sacredness of pure sexual relationships; but that, to become an adept one must expand the finite into the Infinite, the personal into the Universal, man into Parabrahm- if one so choose to designate that Thing Unspeakable.”

-H.P.Blavatsky, Collected Writings volume 4, pg. 342

A Full Moon Eclipse in Aquarius on August 5th There is a tendency to throw away all that weighs or burdens the soul, an urge for higher freedoms and new adventure. The eclipse portends of breakthroughs or breakdowns, sudden turn of events from now and into the next 14 days. It’s musical chairs and time to dance or make a move. Continuing changes in negotiations and plans may perplex into next Sunday, then on Monday everyone grabs a seat. All fixed signs (Scorpio/Taurus/Leo/Aquarius) as well as Libra and Gemini are primarily affected. Do you need a higher calling? Or just need to let go of all the lower callings? Look for a sudden release or letting go or freeing up of various situations and pressing intrigue, biz, problem, or situation. The Eclipse takes place on a big “Black Hole” in Aquarius (sidereal Capricorn) portending of the need for a new alchemy or magic tantra, or even a counselor or another opinion. Better yet, the need to be a spiritual adventurer, a psycho-drama composter and celestial composer, a karma eater and dharma maker, a gardener for better futures, letting go of the past and maybe even the present in a magical metamorphosis of negativity into positivity, a fertilizing and nourisher of better futures. Yes, it’s time to quit channelling, surfing, talking and dreaming; it’s time to be your Higher Self in everyday life. Yep, if you understood that, you got it. Otherwise, review this page next month and ponder. August begins with Venus/Pluto aspects and ends with Mars/Pluto aspects. What was once free decision and choice may by the end of the month become need and necessity to make decisions now. Discovering how to work on oneself, and avoiding others working you over, may be the trick here. If one doesn’t get rid of the excessive psycho-drama by the end of the month, it may get rid of you. In other words: are you steering? Driving? Or do the things you do drive you steery weary, drive you crazy? (The book ‘Meaningful to Behold,’ as well as ‘The Work of the Angel in the Astral Body’ study may be helpful here.)

Can you still feel the effect of the Jupiter conjunct Neptune? Over-reaching or imagining followed by crashing reality? Psychic inflation followed by emotional deflation? The fantasy or adventure of ‘doing the world’, or ‘the world is doing me’? Artistic and creative or farce and deflated? It might be time to harvest or ‘make wise’ what you can and slowly make the return to earth.

“Space flights are merely an escape, a fleeing away from oneself, because it is easier to go to Mars or to the moon than it is to penetrate one’s own being.”

Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist, (1875-1961)

August 8th to 11th (exact on August 10th) Mars square Saturn. Is summer over or just beginning? Good aspect for ‘working’ with others. Not good for forcing one’s opinion. Often this aspect brings strong pressure to act or be acted upon, to work or be worked upon. The weather either burns or turns cold, and so do certain proclivities and friends. Mutable Signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces) along with Capricorn/Taurus/Libra/Aquarius are most affected. This aspect prolongs the inevitable but often forces long-delayed decisions. Often one feels stuck or belabored or weighed down with certain situations or people. An impasse demanding assertive action or force versus being stuck with dead weight or a lack of co-creative partnership or an inactive indifferent or cold person or situation. Good aspect for seeing the work right in front of you and tactfully persistently applying oneself to such. The ‘take one step at a time’ ‘deal with what’s right in front of you’ type aspect. Bad aspect for over-indulging or avoiding responsibility. Good aspect for getting caught with exactly what you need to work on next.

August 12th-14th Mars in Gemini trine Jupiter in Aquarius. Although this aspect portends of too much of a good thing, or going too far or over the top, over-expansive, this is a great aspect for expanding, socializing, playing, gaming, making successful plans and arrangements. Good for music, writing, networking, meetings of success and good fortune. Air signs are most favored in luck, money, and adventurous romance. This is a good time for exercise, rejuvenation, meditation, yoga, right diet, and preparing for new opportunity. Good time for explaining yourself, but why? Actions speak louder than words now. Mars in Gemini is words blowing in the wind. Jupiter in Aquarius is trying to include everybody but not everybody includes you. Just be yourself and let the chips fall, let the dice roll, let karma unfold and flower into dharma, into the open road ahead.

The End of Summer or the Last Dance Party?

“The fault of others is easily perceived, but that of oneself is difficult to perceive; the faults of others one lays open as much as possible, but one’s own fault one hides, as a cheat hides the bad die from the gambler.”

August 16th-18th, Mars trine Neptune, Mars square Uranus, Sun oppose Neptune, Mercury conjunct Saturn all pile up to indicate more than a few fallings out, partings of the way, trading sides, and major miscueings and train wrecks. Mars/Neptune/Uranus indicates premature or precipitive need to act quickly, respond quickly. Notorious aspects for flights of fancy and daredevil tactics, but also aspects for foolhardiness, explosive response, over-doing, or false dreaming, projecting, falling or flying, rather than practical holding of true ground, patience and understanding. Watch for extremes in the weather, crazy karma adventures, and much ado about nothing in these Shakespearean Comedic Tragic Times. Good aspects for all artistic, musical, gardening, or true love full of light adventure. Bad aspects for trusting others with your dharma, destiny, enlightenment, or promises to make you happy.   Otherwise, yes, miracles do happen. Here heaven and earth can meet, but can they listen and truly speak to each other? Usually these aspects warn of troubles, fights, anger, out-of-control antics, and childish behaviour later to be sorry for. Yes there are miracles but only if you have good karma for such, otherwise winning the lottery can mean losing your soul. Beware of lies and false hopes for false futures.

“To be wisely rich, you need more than money.”

-Aria Fairchild

August 20th New Moon in Leo leading into August 22-23 Sun enters Virgo with Venus trine Uranus followed by Sun trine Pluto. For a minute, everything is alright with the world. Water, Earth and Fire Signs are favored now. First baby steps in long-term investments and commitments for adult positive futures are possible now.

“Anger and jealousy can no more bear to lose sight of their objects than love.”

-George Eliot

“Love is wanting another to be happy, compassion that they cease suffering; wishing another to be free and spiritually enlightened is even a higher jeweled path.”

“There is often greater martyrdom to live for the love of, whether man or an ideal, than to die ” is a motto of the Mahatmas.

August 25th, Mars enters Cancer – the signature for September. Mars will then conjunct the USA’s chart Sun, making for a more aggressive no-nonsense, and more assertive approach to both home and White House politics. Economics, healthcare, jobs, and personal security agendas command attention. With Mercury entering Libra and squaring Mars followed by the next day, along with Mars opposing Pluto (August 26th), look out for shoes being thrown at you. Lots of blame and shame, accusing others, scapegoating, and angry weird weather. Venus entering Leo and Mars opposing Pluto, egos and ultimatums are on the plate. This is a strong time to make demands but a bad time to use too much force. Beware of war drums and provocative behaviour escalating violence and storm. Yet, it is a good time to be honest with what you need and what you don’t need. Be honest with yourself, don’t force it on others, and these times be progressively good. You can’t force someone to love you. You can request what you desire, but you got to let them be free. Ask for what you want. Let things be what they are. Turn up your love, don’t demand it of others. Then, take what you get. Otherwise, wait for 2012, or when all the cattle come home. If you don’t get this, read Osho’s Book of Secrets or HPB’s Isis Unveiled, or Steiner’s Rosicrucian Wisdom, then come talk to me again. In other words: do your homework.

“Remember, when you add the big ‘D’ to ‘anger’, you get Danger.”

Aria Fairchild

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”  ~Buddha

In the Detroit incorporation chart, Detroit is a Capricorn: January 18,1802. The present transiting Pluto conjunct natal Mars in the eighth house reveals the ongoing political scandals, indictments, deaths, and economic hard times, as well as corporate take-over of everything. Hopefully, it also indicates an end to escalating crime, poverty, homelessness, and joblessness. With Transiting Uranus squaring that same natal Mars 2010-11, look for a great new car as well as new unique economic initiatives to lift Detroit back up to world leadership capacity and creative social cultural participatoriness.

The place we rip open again and again that always heals — that’s God.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

Detroit’s more esoteric chart based on Cadillac founding, has Sun in Leo for regal pride in spite of everything and anything that happens. Moon conjunct Jupiter in Pisces indicates Detroit’s ‘let’s party’ mentality, as well as high care-free spirited idealism, perhaps even strong religious and spiritual virtue values. In Pisces though, it’s not always realistic nor practical. Often it’s just dreaming of something better, praying and asking for something better. Pisces needs to act, to work, to realize, not fantasize. Transiting Uranus conjunct natal Saturn all this past year reveals the constantly changing battlefield when it comes to how to dig out of near bankruptcy, corporatization dictatorship, and profit making cronyism and greed. With Mars squaring Moon first week of August, look for harsh words and sparks to fly in the continuing ‘who’s to blame’ game and how many crooks can we still find in office. By summer next year, Jupiter will conjunct natal Moon to truly raise the level of social consciousness, as well as real estate values, and Detroit may then begin a true road to recovery with many a new venture in capitalism and social cultural growth. This also is a good aspect indicative of Detroit’s sports actually going all the way and winning at the end! Did I say Hockey and Baseball?!?

When ideas fail, words come in very handy.”

Detroit Mayor Bing has transiting Pluto retrograde coming to conjunct his natal Moon, ouch! Is the Mayor running up against problems or is he gaining power and speed? This aspect can give one second thoughts about how much fun it is being Mayor of Detroit. Indeed, it may get worse before getting better. More bankruptcy or lots more revamping? Here, one wants to keep their friends and business separate or you may lose your business and friends. Even health, as well as money, is at issue. How do you keep your friends and business separate in Politics these days? How’s that going to happen?! Health and money and psychodrama with those close by are often the challenge with such aspects. On the positive note, this aspect forces one to really realize what matters most, and helps one stick to their guns. Hey!? Don’t we have too many guns? Good aspect for strongly standing behind (sometimes people in front with this one, but mostly behind) what one really believes in. Taking a stand for what’s right is called for with this aspect. Otherwise there are internal secret problems forcing retreat. His transiting Jupiter trine natal Venus and Saturn in grand trine makes for a bit of good luck and positive spirit offering many opportunities of good friends and favorable moments of good luck to come help in his time of need. 2011 brings many more good aspects to Bing’s chart, if he and we can wait that long.

With July’s eclipse conjunct Madonna’s natal (normally private) Sun/Pluto, privates become public. Her ex-bodyguard boyfriend is offering secret erotic love cassettes, video, and letters to be auctioned. ‘Holy Green Hornet Butler lover, Batgirl!’ With transiting retrograde Neptune opposing Madonna’s natal Sun this year into October/November, more than one erotic ghost of sticky hard candy may emerge. Neptune opposition usually reveals that others lie about you, deceive you, betray you, and yes at times, inspire and romance you. She’s got a lot on her plate. In losing what’s far away and what’s deadly close, oft one finds middle ground, peace, and true self. Will Madonna become a buddhist? A born again Yogi? A new psychic? Neptune has a way of remaking oneself, rebirthing and renewing oneself. Madonna will do this once again and re-appear in new vogue, new view, clothes and smile, new movie roles, witty wisdoms and song. Yes.

“There is a road, steep and thorny, beset with perils of every kind, but yet a road, and it leads to the very heart of the Universe:

I can tell you how to find those who will show you the secret gateway that opens inward only, and closes fast behind the neophyte for evermore.

There is no danger that dauntless courage cannot conquer;
there is no trial that spotless purity cannot pass through;
there is no difficulty that strong intellect cannot surmount.
For those who win onwards there is a reward past all telling
– the power to bless and save humanity;
for those who fail, there are other lives in which success may come.”

-HPB, C.W. 13, pg. 219

Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it. The man who knows how will always have a job. The man who also knows why will always be his boss. As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

“In the future 6th post Atlantean cultural epoch and even now with those who have advanced their own spiritual mind stream; one feels what others feel, both the joy and the pain. We share an inner life just like we share an outer world. We joy in the freedom of heart and mind creating and co-creating god like qualities, virtue and grace, compassion and truth. We consciously see and hear, touch and are touched by spiritual realities both in ourselves and all others, all living things. In the same higher sense, we now cross the threshold to worlds of spiritual love and truth. Human beings can now experience this ‘at-one-ment’ of their own I AM with the spiritual worlds and every other I AM in such. Then the true meaning of I AM THAT I AM will be self evident. At the moment, this is experienced in the imagination and inspired by the intuition of the average person. Only the advanced spiritual practitioner who is clear about who ‘I AM’ and who I am not may truly knock at the door. We are nearing a time in collective humanity when all of us are becoming psychic to every virtue and non-virtue, and must consciously decide to be spiritual creative, alive. We are nearing the 2012 time of the Apocalypse of ignorance and delusion and the rebirth of the Great Goddess, an ecology, economics, and politics of loving kindness and compassion. This ever renewing birth of the future is the present tension of the time, the higher morality and virtue of our own Spirit calling our Souls home to the heart of the matter.”

-Robert Thibodeau at an OM Cafe lecture

“Many people will walk in and out of your life,
But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.
If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses much more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others –
you can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.”
Eleanor Roosevelt, American politician, wife of FDR

Astrological & Spiritual Insights for July 2009

-Robert Thibodeau, Mayflower Bookshop

“Children are love made visible. We are the seed and ground host for love’s infinite possibilities living in outer nature and inner art. Love is the foundation and blooming rose of magic. Love works magic. There is no other miracle.” -robert of mayflower

“I am a part of all that I have met; yet all experience is an arch wherethro’

gleams that untravell’d world … Come my friends, ‘tis not too late

to seek a newer world.”ULYSSES

WHO OR WHAT DO YOU LOVE? Three Eclipses in a row may change your mind about this. These coming eclipses bring about an intensified need for spiritual renewal, right job and home life, and a higher feeling and sense for what and who we love. Eclipses help us cut unnecessary things and people out of our life, or we’re cut out of something. Eclipses ring ‘in with the new and out with the old’ type changes. A deep questioning within as to what or who do you love, and why, may arise at this time. Economic VooDoo or new window of opportunity for many a new enterprise and adventure. With Uranus going retrograde, look for lots of reversals and surprises, especially you mutable signs of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, and Sagittarius – the unexpected is now to be expected. All things being equal, take the new road. The beaten road is for beaten people.

“Imagination is to Love, what Eternity is to Truth.” -Trebore Tau Bodhi of Mayflower

Wild exaggerations and denials is Hollywood, but so are big dreams and wild kisses of success. Jupiter conjunct Neptune is Hollywood—mystical experience, spiritual lovemaking, fireworks and rain the day after. It’s the highest mountain and deepest sea, it’s lost in space and newfound adventure all at once. It’s the feeling of belonging to the universe, and a song in your heart of surrender to all that is good, true, and beautiful, like life itself.

“I have no problem that every human being is a child of God. My problem is that there are not very many who grew up to be adults with God.” -robert of mayflower

The Moon conjuncts the Jupiter conjunct Neptune on July 10th. Jupiter/Neptune is the second of three conjunctions in Aquarius with Chiron within orb. Boot up the old wild maverick in you and get ready for big adventure and sacred mystical experience. Some of us may only experience the big gass garage sales in the neighborhood along with a front porch picnic, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. Jupiter/Neptune is notorious for some big events in people’s lives, but also it is an aspect for grandiose delusions and big balloon explosions plopping us back to practical ground zero, let’s start again. Still, I don’t want to deflate anyone’s balloon. Jupiter/Neptune is great for that ‘Once In a Lifetime Experience’. Great for making peace with yourself and others. Great for experiencing beyond oneself. Great for travel and imagination. Jupiter/Neptune can also indicate difficulties individuating or finding one’s singular purpose and sense of true self. Troubles due to being too (YIN) diffuse in actions and endeavor. Jupiter/Neptune can indicate a strong need for mothering in social cultural or religious group identification, such as Mega stadium spectator stuff. Being a spectator to one’s own life can be a problem. The other side of that coin is being an hysterical screamer, an inflated boisterous performer or personality, and a caricature of oneself pantomiming one’s own higher self. This is not good. The upper and lower worlds should serve the fire of the heart, serve truth and love, the higher self.

Jupiter/Neptune can also be finding a greater sense of purpose and meaning to life. Finding a sense of self in the greater container of group identity, a social womb or cultural religious/spiritual net to catch one’s higher inclinations into virtuous action. Jupiter/Neptune can be group identification, such as an internet grouping, a religious or spiritual identification. This can be good, but often the individuality is lost in the blur of mass hysteria or mass hypnosis. On the positive up side, it is the sixth cultural epoch of co-creatively working with others to help make the world a better place for all of us. On the negative side, it is escapism and an unconscious wish to return to the womb or be mothered, fed, nourished by someone, even if we feel imprisoned. Good time for socializing and dreaming of better futures, artistically endeavoring to manifest higher dreams and imaginations. There is a danger of unconscious projections. Under the influence of this transit, people are most prone to false imaginations based on either personal fear or unconscious instinctive desire. Also danger of mass projections and subjections to experiences beyond one’s own control. World Event Tsunamis, fears of abandonment or loss, feelings of aloneness or loss of consciousness, or even loss of personal or group identity. The positive side is a reaching up to higher attunement and atonement for past misgivings or mistakes; that is, higher learning. Those most affected by this Jupiter/Neptune aspect are the fixed signs of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus, and Scorpio, though all of us have these signs somewhere in our chart. These fixed signs may feel lonely or alone, lost or misunderstood, cut off or separated from what they once knew as reality or security, or even sense of self. Others may feel swamped by others’ demands, feel unduly impressed by others’ wishes and dreams, and having no worthy sense of self. The positive side is better futures coming, so have a big dream, plan big and prepare. If you have any planets in fixed signs, those areas of life will be affected. Positively, it is ‘the big dream come true’. Or at least the plan, the beautific vision of such.

“We are what and where we are because we have first imagined it.” -Donald Curtis

Mars conjunct the ‘evil eye’ star Algol, squares the Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron triad July 1st to 7th making for much movie madness and sudden leaps of faith into the future ready or not. It’s about watching your own dharma mind to learn to fly, and avoiding the downfalls of negative thinking and non-virtuous acts of anger and jealousy, obsession and infantile fixations and paralysis. Of course, you could try eating more greens and grains (see Self Healing Cookbook at Mayflower).

The question is though, are you living in the right movie?! And is it your future or your neighbors? Your parents? Your good or bad karma? Your free will? Might be a time to meditate, do yoga, go vegetarian. Otherwise, avoid driving people nuts, or being driven by too many feelings and things outside of yourself. Avoid anger and angry people, unless you’re part of the policing of such. This aspect can make for the mad but creative artist, musician, or magician, even wildly creative business adventures. This aspect is also prone to overdo, over-indulge, and go to unjustifiable extremes in behaviour. All planets at the end of fixed signs along with those especially born on or near May 14-17, Feb 12-15, Aug 16-19, Nov 15-18th are affected. Take extra care to be patient, kind, gentle, and caring. Try not to speak of others unless it’s true, kind, and constructively helpful. Positive critique only is advised. Good for waking up suddenly to what you should be doing. Waking up out of an emotional coma or intellectual sleep, or some retarded involvement or situation you fell unconsciously asleep in. A Macrobiotic diet, a healthier natural diet and exercise, can do much to free you from feelings of falling numb or asleep. Mars can wake you up from difficult or erroneous situations with a wish to be free from neurosis. It can make for the most ingeniously creative moves enlivening the sense of life and joy and youth.

“Smee: Captain, the ice is melting, the sun is out, and the flowers are all in bloom…

Captain Hook: He’s back.”

-From Peter Pan. Pan is the archetypal eternal youth living inside each of us. Mars hooking up with Jupiter/Neptune signifies such youthful action arousing etheric life force.

Mars is a also a freedom fighter wanting a higher sense of self-worth, creativity, skill and adventure. Avoid Neptunian fixation on problems, staring too deep into one’s own narcissistic woundology pattern. Instead, find a higher star or ideal, virtue to spark your imagination. Find things and people that wake you up rather than numb you out, or put you to sleep. Avoid unnecessary arguments or discursive thinking that doesn’t lead to positive new growth. Good aspects for getting rid of things that seem good, but persist in going round and round, going nowhere man. Work for your individual spiritual progress, self unfoldment and expansion, and let that overflow into the world. Seek not the world, seek self-knowledge and self-realization, then let the heart overflow. First heart/mind training, then let the heart feelings go; not the reverse. Then true bliss comes. One needs, with this aspect, to be free and playful, but practical in self work, working on oneself. Avoid fantasizing on love or money or places too far from what’s right under your own nose and feet. Clean your own house before critiquing others. There is a danger of overshooting to keep oneself stuck where one is. There is a need to work on obvious things right in front of you, rather than big far-a-way dreams of pie in the sky. Some famous celebrities that are born on the above dates and may very well be affected by such aspects of fantasy and reality mixing drinks include: Jennifer Aniston, Bill Clinton, Robert DeNiro, Madonna, George Lucas, Sean Penn, the USA Scorpio Chart (financial chart), Pakistan and India’s Chart (quake or economic turmoil, warring or new peace), and Israel (intense power plays, infighting, and need to take new progressive peace making direction).

“Imagination continually frustrates tradition, that is its function.” -John Pfeiffer

“Imagination is the match, Inspiration the breath of new possibility, Intuition the meeting of the spiritual being, yourself, and those here and not quite here yet. Listen deeper, your heart can hear the nearing pulse of new wonder!” -Trebore Tau Bodhi of Mayflower

Lunar Eclipse on July 7th at 15 degrees of Capricorn and a Solar Eclipse on July 21st at 29 degrees Cancer primarily will affect all Cardinal signs born July 6th to July 22nd, January 4th to January 20th, April 4th to April 20th, and October 7th to October 23rd. (See your astrological chart for other planets that may fall into alignment with these Cardinal degrees). Expect changes (or rethinking) in all areas concerning direction, goals, job, career, calling, home life or domestic securities. Eclipses have a way of cutting out dead matters, cutting out what no longer serves the higher self or true spiritual direction. Continuing attempts to resuscitate the economy will be the concern, but until Uranus enters Aries in 2010, expect only short-term results. Libra, Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer are most affected.

“If you want to be happy, live out of your imagination. Live not out of fear or money or poor view. Be rich in imagination, that is where all prosperity and happiness begin!. Otherwise, eat more brown rice and chew well. Life is all about awareness. When that fails, chew on your past a little more to digest the experience. The future then awaits you, and the future is all about imagination.” -robert of mayflower

July 21st 2009 Solar Eclipse in Cancer is the longest total eclipse (over 6 and half minutes) that will occur in the 21st century, the longest until June 13th 2132. Eclipses suddenly make us alarmingly sensitive to situations unperceived previously. Sudden realizations and turns in life are now possible. The eclipse will be total or near total in India, Calcutta, Delhi, Kathmandu, Shanghai, and Wuhan. The end of the eclipse passes into Central China, then into the Pacific Ocean. Expect challenging crazy wild news and ever-changing events in and concerning India, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and even our economic relationship to China. Eclipses often bring about quick changes in leadership, sudden fortune and misfortune, quakes and storms of change and rearrangement, as well as more sudden celebrity/politician scandal, crisis or death. The eclipse in Cancer affects quality of food and environment, home and land, property, family values, and the sense of security or not. This eclipse at 29 Cancer opposes the USA Chart’s natal Pluto. Expect strong changes in Federal Reserve structure or rules, along with further bank problems with this aspect. Venus squares Saturn this day of the Solar Eclipse indicating serious bottom lines when it comes to money, love, long term security, and taking care of others. Those born on or near January 15th to 20th, April 15 to 20th, July 18th to 23rd, October 18th to 23rd are most affected to change or be changed, be sensitive or be shocked, cut out dumb stuff or be cut out. Eclipses can reawaken what really matters most in one’s life. It’s always a time for increased compassion and patience. All major astrological aspects create a window area of opportunity to make good or bad karma quickly. Choose awakening virtue mind and making good karma.

“John: Michael, are you shot?

Michael: I haven’t checked yet, but there’s something worser.

John: Oh, what could be worse?

Michael: My thoughts aren’t very happy! [they both fall]” –from Peter Pan

July’s Solar Eclipse conjuncts mega-church’s Joel Osteen’s South Node indicating both his charismatic prosperity gospel of buckets of money for everyone, as well as a possibly very intense love interest which may elevate or deviate his vertical ascent to success and glory. His emphasis on the power of love and a positive attitude is winning for him these days. The eclipse may signify changes of staff or working relations. With Saturn opposing his natal Sun at the moment, growth without limits may be his downfall, along with ‘trouble in the crib’ or health sensitivities. His strong and assertive wife may be the Saturnian influence dampening the party, or is it another? If Osteen doesn’t slip on the high slopes of mega church success with transiting Neptune (truth or lies?) conjunct his natal Mercury (public talk), the transits of both Uranus conjunct his natal Jupiter, and transiting Jupiter coming end of year into next to oppose his natal Uranus will bring more windfalls of success. Osteen’s church holds 35,000 people. TV multiplies that count. He preaches and asks Jesus to give people bonuses and raises. Alan Greenspan and Ed McMahon, both public spokesmen, share being born March 6th, but in different years. This July eclipse will also reveal whether or not there is an economic ‘China-Centric Recovery,’ or is it a slow but sure China Doll? ‘Shine Ah’ … China, is a power to be reckoned with intelligently. Spiritually the raw material is in intelligent loving kindness and compassion for stones, trees, plants, animals, birds, butterflies, weeds, flowers, vegetables, and all humans. In money terms, China’s got raw resources and lots of money to buy anything it doesn’t have. The USA may soon need to return to sane yet free ecological and peaceful world economics. Intelligent and creative peace with China is imperative, to avoid new imperialism and totalitarianism in the form of corporate feudalism and communism. America is in the midst of being reborn as a world leader or fallen leader as Pluto comes to oppose our natal Sun sign. The eclipses also foretell of the struggle between inflation and deflation fighting for what, where, and when. It’s anyone’s guess. Most of us realize at this point that anything that has quality, costs more. Intellectual and emotional inflation followed by deflation, then again inflation, etc. seems the norm these daze. Interesting times. Inner wealth now needs to become as important as outer wealth. Imagination can make us again rich. Imagination as to how to heal the earth, live in peace, be co-creative and brotherly with all economic workings worldwide. Imagination to be be free thinkers and researchers, religiously spiritual about everything and every moment of our life. Spiritual imagination is the fiery warmth protecting us from, and capable of healing, the cold realities of ignorance and delusion, anger and violence, pollution and ecological disaster. We need a new imagination inspiring all of us to work together for peace and love. A new imagination enlivening and inspiring us to get out of our fear and little falsely protected egos. Love is the match for truth. Truth is the light of love. Truth and love united in an awakened heart is healing, awakening, bravery to be yourself, the world, the ultimate enlightenment. May all beings find happiness. May we see this truth and love within our own heart mind and moment!

“…and then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”        -Anais Nin

July 26 to 28 Venus trines Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron while squaring Uranus. Good aspect for loving, making new and renewing good friendships, creatively engineering social cultural events and endeavors, parties, and just good positive vibes all over. A feeling lucky kind of daze. Air signs and Fixed signs feel this the most, but it’s in all our astrological charts in some area of life. You have your chart don’t you? Good time for a reading!

“There was a woman who talked perpetually of ‘the divine spark’ within her, until HPB stopped her with – ‘Yes, my dear, you have a divine spark within you and if you are not very careful you will hear it snore!” -Yeats, ‘Autobiography of HPB’ by Cranston p.467

August 4th Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius (13 degrees) should bring much relief and creatively constructive relief to many an ill in this world of personal challenges and oft too many then not enough opportunity. Aquarius full moon eclipse should initiate a de-construction and re-construction of one’s ideals and higher aims in life in the two weeks following this astro event. Time of coming into fruition. Time for pulling the old weeds of wrong habits or false expressions of self. Time to cut back on extraneous expenditures of self in areas not fitting with true plan of the future.

“Live out of your imagination instead of out of your memory.” -Les Brown

Michael Jackson’s recent untimely death may leave more questions unanswered than answered when it comes to his money, estate, habits, and reason for death. With transiting Neptune and Jupiter opposing his natal Mercury at death, being vampirized by medications and other peoples money grabs, as well as his own needs to escape reality in overindulging fantasies and in undisciplined spending, may have in the end, done him in long before he physically died. Moving vans are towing away his stuff and nobody knows if he had a will or who either of the real parents of his children are!? Jackson is claimed to be over 500 million dollars in debt. Nobody knows for sure what he is worth while anything connected to him is zooming up in price as a collectible. We’ll know by the end of 2009 and into spring 2010 when transiting Jupiter will enter Pisces and oppose Michael Jackson’s secretive natal Sun conjunct Pluto in repressed (sometimes kinky) Virgo the virgin.

“Reverence, enthusiasm, and a sense of guardianship, these three are actually the panacea, the magical remedy, in the soul of the educator and teacher.” – Rudolf Steiner

“Accept the children with reverence, educate them with love, send them forth in freedom.” – Rudolf Steiner

Jackson’s Sun/Pluto in Virgo indicates secret powers as well as eating disorders and psychological/emotional difficulties concerning sexuality and childhood. Michael claimed he innocently shared his bed with children; yet, he also did much for charity. By early 2010 we’ll get the clearer picture of his psyche and true estate and state of mind. Michael Jackson was born August 29th, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. There is no exact time for Jackson’s birth. My rectification puts it around 10:45 p.m. giving him a natal Moon at 16 Pisces being opposed by now transiting Saturn in Virgo (need for discipline and right diet, otherwise difficulties with food and medication, drugs, health problems, eating disorders). Jackson has a natal ascendent then at 26-27 degrees Taurus with transiting Neptune now squaring such (loss of consciousness, confusion, high ideals that don’t reach manifestation, concert canceled). Natal Mars near ascendent in Taurus, roughly opposing Neptune in Scorpio gives Jackson the Elvis wiggles, sexual moves and grooves, along with his infamous ‘moonwalking’ and robot like dance moves and illusionist tricks. Mars/Neptune is also an imagination that can inflate or deflate ego depending on the mood swing. Confusion about masculinity, along with acting ability. The natal Venus T-Square to Neptune/Mars and Ascendent adds to Jackson’s mysterious charisma, charm, and sexual allure. In 1993-94, following Jackson’s huge ‘Thriller’ success, transiting Pluto opposed his natal Mars and Ascendent simultaneous to sexual abuse accusations, which Jackson settled out of court for $22 million. In May of 1994, with transiting Venus opposing his natal Saturn, and Saturn transiting about to conjunct his natal Moon, Jackson married Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa. They divorced within two years. This is the end of an era in music history.

Giving wings to both the golden bird of truth and love, this heart touches every iota of earth, e’en the furthest star; enabling the fully Human Being angelic intelligence and virtue, giving access to the simplest matters of day whether made of clay or spirit, as well as the vision of the eternal beauty we are wandering our many ways. June 2009 Astrological Newsletter

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Many thanks to the many friends who came to my recent live music performances. It was great to hear so many sing along with some of the songs. The song line chorus of ‘Fly me home, fly me home; on the wings of an angel, don’t ever let go’, as well as ‘A little bit of Love’s gonna set us free’ had everyone singing! Those songs, from my new ‘WISH’ CD, seemed to be the favorites with everyone. You can hear some of the songs on Mayflower Bookshop website ( My little rap rants about the sacred heart and holy backyard, politics, ecology, and saying prayers before meals in a song at Memphis Smoke seems to still have some people talking. Move over Tom Petty and Bob Dylan! Thanks friends! Next concert is in Palmer Park June 28th! More concerts coming up, so stay tuned. -robert (248-547-8227) See our website and hear some music at

Robert of Mayflower’s Astrological Newsletter, June 2009

Pluto, now in Capricorn, envisions the need for world concern for ecology, good healthy food to eat, and concerned governments around the world to work together for peace and prosperity. Pluto opposing the USA’s Cancer Sun Sign denotes how world dilemmas and problems are forcing us to re-imagine ourselves as agents for positive change and renewal. Pluto’s danger is letting the ‘little man,’ the unconscious libido, the desire/fear rule. Emerson – a true transcendentalist and creative imagineer of modern America’s pursuit of happiness, joy, and peace – clearly accentuates and activates our higher virtue and sense of conscience, mind, and spirit in his wonder poems and essays such as Brahma, The OverSoul, and Self-Reliance. Emerson may well be the one to read, along with Bucke’s ‘Cosmic Consciousness’ to antidote Pluto’s negative influence. Another book, ‘Secrets of the Soil’ or anything on Biodynamic Gardening will also help. If America could rekindle their intimate relationship to the Virtuous Heart and the Holy Backyard, re-awaken how important a relationship to the soil is, much good could prevail. Pluto opposing Cancer is the loss of healthy soil and good food. By cognitive organic gardening alone, we can recreate a virtuous world of peace and joy. Most of us have been severely cut off from the spiritually etheric formative forces and rhythms of Mother Nature.

 “He is asleep. Though his mettle was sorely tried, He lived, and when he lost his angel, died. It happened calmly, on its own, The way the night comes when day is done.” -Les Miserables (p. 1463)

Pluto squaring Libra reveals the end of marriage and relationship as we know it. It indicates a need to make friendship and loving kindness the core of relationship, not a dream in the sky. Happiness in helping others unfold their own talents and virtues, as well as mutual respect and co-creative spiritual striving, freedom, and honesty, will become a priority in all relationships. Staying friends after parting ways is the key proof of such attainment. Pluto square Libra reveals a need to base friendships and partnerships on the many possibilities of making the world a better place, a more virtuous harmonious place; rather than partnerships based on greed, desire, fear and egotistical attainment/acquirement alone. Pluto in Capricorn depicts the death and rebirth (controlled bankruptcies and re-making) of many a corporation and car company. It also depicts the need to have all military powers of the world to work for peace and love, rather than perpetual war and military nuclear build-up. We seem to be good at war but not peace, good at making weapons but not healthy gardens and farm communities.

“Have no fear of robbers or murderers. They are external dangers, petty dangers. We should fear ourselves. Prejudices are the real robbers; vices the real murderers.” -Les Miserables (p. 27)

Neptune in Aquarius probably signifies how many people are medicated, or ‘on something,’ also the mass hysteria produced by being continually overstimulated. The real need of meditation rather than medication, yoga rather than party togas, and gardening rather than fireworks and loud stadiums of spectator music, sports, and politics. Wrong use of drugs are a real problem both in the garden and in the human being, toilets, and our drinking water.

 “In passing, we might say that success is a hideous thing. Its false similarity to merit deceives men… They confuse heaven’s radiant stars with a duck’s footprint left in the mud.” -Les Miserables (p. 51-52)

Neptune wants to get something from nothing, and seems to neither understand Buddha’s empty bowl, nor emptiness practice. Neptune is escape, false spirituality, maya or feverish illusory pursuits, as well as visitations and moments of great compassion, the mother. Neptune is the sea of compassion and bliss, or the sea of samsara’s illusions and false perceptions. Neptune in Aquarius calls for a real need to address drug addiction, whether in the form of sugar and coffee, TV and porn, pharmaceutical or illegal drugs. Emerson’s works, Blavatsky’s ‘Secret Doctrine’ and ‘Isis Unveiled,’ Steiner’s ‘Outline of Esoteric Science’ and his ‘Theosophy,’ Osho’s ‘Book of Secrets,’ the Tibetan Buddhist Mind Training and Meditation Techniques, Vedanta, the Bhagavad Gita all are ways of spiritually “getting high” or transcending to a spiritual reality or angelic encounter enabling a more virtuous re-embodiment, or even next moment. The metaphysical movement and health food, whole foods, movement is a real human heart conspiracy of LOVE. The human being is conscious virtue and harmonious co-creative spirit indeed. The human being, each of us, is a divine co-creative agent for either positive or negative change. Few are trained in the ways of virtuous mind training, organic gardening, musical play, or metaphysical inquiry that leaves one free. Freedom and truth, loving kindness and compassion, and creative play, are severely lacking top to bottom in this weird world of better living through chemistry, advanced technology, economic war machines, and spectator living (spectator sports, spectator sex, spectator music and entertainment). Neptune in Aquarius is also the danger of spectators or ghosts. Ghosts are all the past unfinished or undigested experiences that haunt the mind and emotions with distraction or vampirization making one feel either drained or over accentuated, exaggerated, or inflated.

“That eternally returning specter, the past, not infrequently falsifies its passport. Let us be ready for the snare. Let us beware. The past has a face, superstition, and a mask, hypocrisy. Let us denounce the face and tear off the mask.” -Les Miserables, Victor Hugo (p. 508)

Neptune in Aquarius calls for the need for heightened awareness and a new spirituality that can heal the split between spirit and body by awakening the Soul of Knowledge in Heart, awakening the heart’s mindfulness. (See ‘Treasury of Dharma,’ or ‘Meaningful to Behold,’ or ‘The Three Principled Path’ by Gelek Rimpoche, and also Robert of Mayflower’s cd called Divine Yoga Sutras).

“The greatness of democracy is that it denies nothing and renounces nothing of humanity. Next to the rights of Man, side by side with them, at least, are the rights of the Soul.” -Les Miserables (p. 517)

Uranus in Pisces, about to go into Aries in 2010, indicates the need to catch the mind from unconscious streaming. Uranus wants something new to happen, but in Pisces it’s like trying to have a new dream rather then doing something real. Uranus in Pisces is sleep disturbances as well as events that disturb your sleep or ability to stay unconscious. Uranus is the awakener. If one doesn’t consciously, spiritually and morally, wake up to participating in the creation of a peaceful healthy holy world, one may accidently and karmically open oneself up to being shocked into growing up spiritually. It’s the carrot or the stick type mentality. Either one goes for the carrot, making oneself better, initiating spiritual (virtuous) education, or one gets hit with the stick, hit with learning lessons. Uranus in Pisces truly indicates the need to awaken a spiritual pre-conceptive awakeness, an intuitive feeling for future events, and a willingness to change the inner self, the inner mind, so to attune to meeting the future full-bodied. We live in a world where some of us have awakened the awareness that “Each of us is a child of God”. The problem is that few of us are spiritual ADULTS. Few realize their full spiritual potential. Few realize their co-creative power in creating future circumstance and world event starting with each and everything we do. The present is the child of the past, the parent of the future. Uranus in Pisces gives us plenty of forewarning of coming events. When Uranus goes into Aries and squares Pluto, much of the past will be truly thrown off and the future, like it or not, will be rushed at us. Many a new invention and cultural revolution of higher intelligence and world necessity will be thrown upon us. It will be like ‘musical chairs’ – except everybody sitting will now have to get up and dance, or do something, move.

“Liberation is not deliverance. A convict may leave prison behind but not his sentence.” -Les Miserables (p.97)

Saturn in Virgo reveals the need to insure good healthy food and water for everybody, not just “good” insurance. Healthy diet and exercise is an insurance. Saturn in Virgo is the need to find good work, job, that is spiritually and ecologically healthy for both the individual and the world. We need healthy transportation! Non-fossil fuel transportation. Job and health are the issues here with Saturn in Virgo, but if you’re not working on healing the inner life, the mind and heart, what good will a healthy animal body be but for harnessing as work dog serf-dumb? “If you’re not working on your inner self, you’re not working” used to be the slogan at Mayflower Bookshop. Being physically healthy but not virtuous is not spiritual health. Saturn in Virgo is about the wisdom of right work, right mind, right diet (intestines), and right dharma or critique. Right Fix is knowing what to fix that automatically fixes a thousand other things.

Jupiter in Aquarius is about social justice and creating healthy spiritual community. Its fall-out or shadow would include elitist exclusive clubbing and in-house clowning. It also indicates the tendency to collectivize, socialize, and herd, rather than to individualize. The most for the many, rather than the most for the few is the trend. What is best for the whole which includes each individual.

“Love has no middle term; either it destroys, or it saves.” -Les Miserables (p. 1004)

Venus and Mars in Taurus makes for some great hugs and kisses this month. Good for down-to-earth practicality and super-sensuous experience. Good for gardening, friends and backyards.

 “The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves–say rather, loved in spite of ourselves.” -Les Miserables (p. 167)

June’s Astrological Configurations of Interest include—

  1. June 5th, Sun square Saturn leading into June 7th trigger of Moon square Saturn on Full Moon Day  may mean extremes in the weather along with tough realistic decisions when it comes to the economy, travel, and all big blue sky, the grass is greener over there, possibilities. Saturn makes one realistic. Mars trine Pluto on the 4th makes for aggressive but practical moves to further large stake interests and long-term securities.
  2. The Venus trine Pluto on June 8th in Earth signs, makes for the need to secure one’s heart to deeper yet secure waters. The heart yearns to anchor in deeper waters of time’s wisdom and insight. Good for evaluating what really works in love, and what escapes in love. What anchors love and what flies away in such.
  3. Mercury square Chiron/Neptune/Jupiter on the 9th & 10th. Great aspect for using one’s creative wits to achieve the impossible. Bad aspect for taking unnecessary risks in gambling, investments, speculation, or compromising oneself with unconscious weird appetites or desires, or wanting something for nothing. Also indicative of the need to transcend troubles with something more beautiful, loving, and full of grace, forgiveness, and futurity. The June 13th Moon conjunct Neptune/Jupiter/Chiron vibe is orgasmic insights into the future.
  4. First half of June, Asteroid Pallas squares Venus/Mars making for sudden jolts of reality when it comes to love, money, and the hunt for happiness. Beware of hunting goddesses. Good for making love work for everybody. Anger is forcing one’s judgement and opinion on another denying them the freedom to come to it on their own. Pallas can be forceful. But when patient and loving, the best of lovers and friends she is.  Love is wanting the other to be happy, to bloom. Love ravishes the seed to bud, the bud to flower, the flower to fly in the air, perfume the world. Love is the paradox of becoming oneself simultaneous to freeing oneself; and perhaps, even the other.

 “They were living in that ravishing condition that might be called the dazzling of one soul by another.” -Les Miserables(p. 1004)

5. June 4th to 12th watch the verbal sparks fly as President Obama has transiting Mars square his natal Mercury, and then by the 12th he has transiting Mars opposing his natal Neptune. The President will be quick to retaliate or react to misplaced criticisms. Also quick to address and put in check troubled hot spots. By the 12th, danger of acting prematurely or too quickly, rashly, or wrongly. With Pluto going retrograde to oppose his natal Venus again at the end of June, the President may be feeling the tight squeeze of performance tension, and/or the continued pressures and troubles due to both the war in the Middle East, and the continued threats of North Korea’s actions. Pluto/Venus can create ultimatums and strong pressures to act or react. Neptune retrograde transiting so close to his ascendent demands realistic and practical actions progressing the Presidents future plans; otherwise, Neptune can be the feeling of being lied to or misled. Positively, the Pluto/Venus transit depicts the President dealing head-on with real problems in the economy and with the poor, rather than loss of popularity due to scandal. The Neptune transit can depict the President’s strong spiritual power and virtuous idealism shared by the collectively conscious public, rather than the illusory pursuit of goals. When Uranus transit squares his natal Venus early next year, we will get the report card. Spring could be the breakthrough time for progress and real forward motion. Early next year, Jupiter will trine President Obama’s Venus in Cancer and his Neptune in Scorpio. Will everything come up roses by then, or is it the war of the roses?

6. Aquarius Jupiter going Retrograde on June 15th till October 13th portends of four months of reconsidering the Obama plan for restoring the country to world leadership in peace, environment, economy, social justice, and education. This may prove to be the critical time for the economy to prepare for many real NEW initiatives, inventions, and futuristic realities to make their appearance in 2010-12 during the Cardinal Sign Cosmic Cross of Pluto Capricorn/Uranus Aries/Saturn Libra/Jupiter Aries.

    “Mayor Madeline: ‘The two highest functionaries of the state are the wet nurse and the school teacher’.” -Les Miserables (p. 161)

    7. June 17th Sun trine Neptune/Jupiter and square Uranus makes for an intense need to make quick changes and adjustments. This influence for sudden shifts of direction extends from June 15th to 20th. Asteroid Juno conjuncts Uranus during this week of June 17th portending of wild Celtic Amazonian women of wonder and power, along with the usual criminals of complaint, worry, nag, and haggy dissent, dissatisfaction. Juno is mythologically associated with Zeus’s wife capable of loving wisdom, joy, and kindness, but also of rage and terroristic obsession and fascination. Men are equally included here. This may prove to be a harmonious and beautiful time, but it could also be a time of stormy weather and earthquake, as well as tempestuous political debate. The beautiful hag, Juno, is a flush rose cheeked this June.

     “She astounds at ten paces, terrifies at three; a large wart inhabits her perilous beak; you constantly tremble lest she blow it your way, and lest her nose slip in her mouth some fine day.” -Les Miserables (p. 1087).

    Jupiter conjunct Neptune on July 10th should flush out whether 19 people dying from Swine Flu in U.S. constitutes a pandemic alarm or not. Jupiter/Neptune can be highly inflated data as well as completely missing the obvious fact right in front of your face. The question most astrologers have is, is the economy really hitting bottom and making a positive turn? I tend to think the Jupiter/Neptune may be fooling us, and we haven’t quite hit bottom yet. Spring 2010 on to 2012 will be the real turn around and positive new world vibe. Or so i think.

    8. Summer Solstice on June 21st on Father’s Day reveals Venus conjunct Mars in Taurus notorious for passionate love, eroticism, sacrifice, and going to no end to find satisfaction. With New Moon next day oppose Pluto, along with a Venus/Mars trine Saturn, expect many power plays and heated threats both personal weird stuff with jealousy, anger, and fear, as well as geo-political hotspot war zones. Compassion, compassion, compassion with sharp wisdom, wit, and selfless insight much needed at this time. On the 23rd, Sun opposes Pluto known for jealousy and crazy antics of selfish obsession, vanity, taking-it-personal, and downright neurosis, psychosis, and woundology psychology.  Being happy for other’s happiness is usually the missing element these daze.

       “And whatever he did, he always fell back onto this paradox at the core of his thought. To remain in paradise and become a demon! To re-enter hell and become an angel!” -Les Miserables (p. 235)

      Although Venus/Mars can make for impulsive highly exciting erotic love adventure this whole month leading to June 21st and on to the July Full Moon eclipse, and on to the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction on July 10th, take care to avoid people who aren’t happy for others, who put everyone else down, who demonize others with their superior inferiority complex, and who deny others the creative freedom they demand so much for themselves. Reality check points include the highly erotic, kinky and weird, Sun opposes Pluto on June 23rd, the Ceres conjunct Saturn on June 26th through the end of June, along with July 1st, 4th, and July 21st Solar Eclipse with Venus square Saturn. (Will grains and corn and food prices rise substantially due to cold then hot weather? Or will they fall?) The weather continues to go to extremes. Here in Michigan, my hope is the cool spring will ward off the Japanese beetle bugs that love to eat corn, berries, and roses.

      9. With Venus/Mars conjunct on June 21st, heading for a square to Jupiter then Neptune by the first week in July many a love life will tangle, untangle, wrangle and jingle jangle, come unglued and reassemble. Do we remember just what and why we are here for each other. To midwife awakening? Destiny or fate? To make the world a better place or just to work out bad karma? Hug; or, Huh? Or is it just a mad plunge into the future avoiding the reality of the situation? Escapism and inflationism? Or just lost at sea without a clue, dishonesty and real friends too few? Ask for anything, accept the way it is for now, and turn up the love light, being yourself true to the dream, the ideal, the highest star o’er head. Yes, that’s how to deal with this aspect.

        “Love almost replaces thought. Love is a burning forgetfulness of everything else.” -Les Miserables (p. 1009)

        10. Conan O’Brien’s astrological chart reveals shake-ups and dramatic changes to his show by October 2009 with Retrograde Uranus transit conjunct his natal Venus. Neptune then retrograde transits near his Saturn/Moon depicting feelings of being drained, and a need for better diet and exercise, a need to take care of health. (Isn’t Conan already doing this?) With Pluto recently squaring O’Brien’s natal Jupiter, everything is changing … or is it? The last of three Pluto/Jupiter squares hits in early 2010. If Conan makes it to then, the Uranus transit conjunct his natal Jupiter will catapult him to greater success. Till then, his tough aspects in October, along with Saturn transit opposing his Venus in September, portend of tough times and a long ride. O’Brien has transiting Pluto trining his ascending sign, Uranus and Pluto, indicating somebody in power wants Conan there. But why? Is he really that funny? If Conan can last it out, 2010 will be his time to win.

        11. Susan Boyle who won our hearts by being somebody simple, miserable and downtrodden (and who doesn’t have a piece of that hidden somewhere inside us) won a place on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ by singing ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from the play ‘Les Miserables’. Les Miserables was a book by Victor Hugo depicting a convict in prison for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread. The story is a torrid affair of poverty seeking wholeness, love, and redemption, and the heart eventually winning out over outer circumstance and fate, even death. Susan Boyle typifies that beat-up part of ourselves seeking healing and wholeness, seeking our day in the court of divine providence, perhaps even on the stage of mass attention. Somewhere inside each of us is something really beautiful, a song in our heart. Susan has a Libra Moon opposite an Aries Sun. Jupiter in Aquarius trines her Moon. With Neptune transiting her midheaven and opposing her natal Uranus, she had her day or two of fame and good fortune. With transiting Pluto slowly coming up to oppose her Mars in the coming years, and with transiting Jupiter coming to oppose her natal Pluto next year, Susan would be smart to buy a farm and stay grounded. With Uranus coming in the next two years to conjunct her Sun, and with Neptune presently high in her chart near MC, she may end up with a little TV show, but if I was her, I wouldn’t gamble. I’d take care of my heart and health, eat good food and exercise, and go for the farm, not the fame.

        “Each of our passions, even love, has a stomach that must not be overloaded. We must in all things write the word finis in time; we must restrain ourselves, when it becomes urgent, draw the bolt on the appetite, play a fantasia on the violin, then break the strings with our own hand.” -Les Miserables (p. 135)

        12. Plane vanishes over Atlantic as Neptune goes retrograde and Mercury goes direct. N. Korea announce more underground nuclear bombs, and more missile tests. Hard to tell exactly what’s going on with Jupiter Neptune aspects. June should flush out what’s up here. The end of June and around full moon early July also has tricky aspects for warring geopolitical hot spots on earth.

        “Great perils share this beauty that they bring to light the fraternity of strangers.” -Les Miserables (p. 1101)

        13. Mel Gibson recently announced he’s getting divorced from his wife, and having a baby with his girlfriend. I wonder what his ‘Catholic’ opinion was about the Opra Priest affair?! Well, it’s good they are with women and not kids, eh? Anyway, Mel has transiting Pluto squaring his natal Moon which can be really good for having a baby and a garden. You gotta be really sweet and loving with that aspect. Jealousy and psychodrama will kill ya if you are not careful with Mr. Pluto. Transiting Uranus conjunct his Midheaven portends of a huge change in his career, his looks, the roles he plays, the way he walks and talks even! Uranus may get him to write a book or do reality shows, or even journalism or reporting. Uranus wants honesty and a higher truth. His Pluto aspect wants privacy and lots of intimacy, closeness, and trust. Hey, where does that start? Assuming Mel sticks with the new love he’s having a baby with (she’s now over 3 months pregnant), his Jupiter aspects to his natal fifth house and then oppose his natal Moon may predict another baby within a year and a half. Go Mel, go go!

        “Suspicions are nothing more nor less than wrinkles. Early youth has none. What overwhelms Othello glides over Candide.” -Les Miserables (p. 1041)

        “Citizens, in the future there shall be neither darkness nor thunderbolts, neither ferocious ignorance nor blood for blood… In the future no man will slay his fellow, the earth will be radiant, the human race will love. It will come, citizens, that day when all shall be concord, harmony, light, joy, and life.” -Les Miserables, Hugo (p. 1116)

        Astrology for January 2009

        Compliments of the Mayflower Bookshop, Robert Thibodeau (248-547-8227)

        1. Jupiter enters Aquarius on January 5th and, for a year, the hippie (or surf bum, party-goer, nightclubber, midnight romancer, or travel dog) in you will come out fantasizing that the New Age of Dumb Fun and Magic is here. Jupiter/Neptune/Uranus form a mutual reception giving much positive spirit and hope for change, as well as uplifting rearrangement of friends, social networking, technological advance, and escape from whatever prison of addictions one has. Jupiter in Aquarius is most positive for all signs and planets in Air signs: Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra. It also favors creative endeavors by Scorpio and Taurus signs. For the Fixed and Air signs, the main danger of Jupiter in Aquarius is over-doing or excess, laziness both spiritually and matter-of-factly, and finding oneself just talking about stuff, but not really doing anything about it. Armchair generals have never been more frequent. JUPITER/NEPTUNE aspects this year are good for gardening, poetics, art, new music and film, and higher spiritual romance and comedy. Often associated with miracles and scientific wonders, the Jupiter/Neptune aspects make for high road aspirations and novelty. The danger of such aspects is delusions of grandeur and psychic inflation, as well as wanderlust and unnecessary wanderings and dreaming. The dreams we have this year will really manifest in 2010 when Jupiter conjuncts Uranus. Expect a really cost-efficient, ecologically sound car (or form of transportation) then. Also at that time, there will be major breakthroughs and advances in communications, computers, informations systems, technology, and alternative energies.
        2. The January 20th inauguration of the new President Obama has the Sun in Aquarius for the positive change vibe, but with Mercury retrograde and conjunct the Sun on that day, there will be much difficult work to do as the newly elected President faces the huge task of re-working or even reversing economic, ecological, militaristic, and social ills. With many major thinkers these days predicting the disintegration and fractionalizing of the USA by 2010-12, and with more scandals than ever in the financial quarters of banking, mortgage, sports, and politics, there are more troubles than hairs on a rabbit, and the needle of repair is not even hidden in the haystack of problems. I dare say it appears that the newly elected government officials are walking into a wild beehive astir with the frenzy of over-complicated matters, and they have little time and high pressure to amend them. The sweet honey days of high profits for many may be over for awhile. Jupiter in Aquarius often brings many new adventures and quests for the gold, new technologies and new opportunities for investment—if you can live on the edge of Uranus, Chiron, and Saturn, the rulers of Aquarius. This aspect is good for working with others for the good of others. A sense of brotherhood and sisterhood, the family of humankind is always present with Aquarius aspects.
        3. Mercury in Aquarius goes retrograde on January 11th until February 1st when it goes forward from Capricorn. Here the high ideals and goals of the new year may take a step back to deal with the practical matters at hand, which are blocking forward motion. Getting the knots out of the strings before making new ties is the call of Mercury retrograde. Mercury dipping back into Capricorn demands realistic, practical, down-to-earth details in planning, as well as authoritative power plays and one-up-man-ship manoeuvres.
        4. February 5th’s Saturn opposing Uranus and Venus square Pluto may find some heavy restructuring of plans laid out in January’s inauguration into the new year. Cardinal signs need to think long-term when it comes to people and things you love. Letting go of what doesn’t work is always helpful to ‘lift-off’ and ‘take-off’ with future plans. The Mutable signs continue to struggle with ever-changing flight plans and dreams, and how one’s day-to-day lifestyle and work fit into such future endeavors. Cardinal signs may find themselves coming into new strength and power, but this is dependent on the continuing ability to jettison old modes of behaviour and habit, not getting stuck on repeating past formulas nor allowing the old ghost of self (or others) to retard your progress. The breakthrough for Cardinal signs will come in 2010-2012. At the moment, some are just breaking wind.
        5. If you behave yourself, and don’t slip on over-shooting the mark, mistaking a landslide for a white elephant, nor imagining this world offers something for free, January could prove to be a seemingly magical journey on the love and pleasure side of the street. January 20th to the 25th could prove for some to be a good time for high romance, spirit’d adventure and joy, and successful financial gain. With Sun in Aquarius, Venus conjuncts Uranus in Pisces (January 22nd) and then opposes Saturn (January 24th) when the Sun conjuncts Jupiter. This may well just be a week of partying during the Presidential Inauguration. It is also a week of readjusting your creative view of love and exactly what will make you happy, or not. Lots of insight into who’s who here. This will also be a week of great adventure in music, the arts, romance, new financial adventure and opportunity. Take care to not crash and burn by the end of January with dreaded aspects of weird weather and crazy people by February 5th. Lots of new economic breakthroughs, planning and structure around the New Moon on the 26th. Adjustments to such, and more crazy psychic political economic warring weather patterns by February 5th. Air and Water signs are especially applicable to the love and joy vibe this month.
        6. WEATHER: Crazy psychic weather days, good for cleaning and catching up to the past and trying to metamorphose into the future include January 2nd into 3rd, 9th into 10th, 14th into 15th, 19th, 22nd into 24th, and the 27th. Be patient and cautious if traveling on these days. Good days to catch up, clean up, and ‘fess up to what still needs to be worked on.
        7. With Mars cruising between Pluto and the Sun this month, and Chiron near Node/Neptune, take care to avoid people who take things too personally, are easily angered, or are a bit too forceful. On the flip side, these have really been the times for creative mavericks to have their say, stake their turf, and get their ya ya’s out. If you yourself feel the creative and wild forces of the Dionysian urge, take heart to listen to your audience a little better, between your pertinent expressions of yourself and the world you conceive.
